HumboldtLocals Outdoor 2010

from my experience with multiples the branches just turn outward ...its pretty cool to watch

That would be cool, makes sense if there's no light for them to find it.

Things here at HL's are looking great. We have some decent weather finally and let's hope it lasts. The plants have been exploding with growth under their hoops with rain and clouds so some sun and warmth should go a LONG way.

I'll do a picture update soon with each row but pictures won't do it justice. These plants are so big and healthy. I'm so exited that at the end of the work day I can't calm down or sleep. I'm just so amazed!

I saw a bunch of seed starts and clones from other growers in the neighborhood recently and the comparison is shocking. Most peoples seed starts are less than a third the size of HL's,but the size of the stalks and color of the waxy green leaves is the biggest difference. Also they smell so nice already, almost like they're flowering! These plants are going to be monsters and some seriously tasty meds!!!

Also, from HL's last picture update, how awesome are those boots? And notice the yellow hat? Oh yea!!!

Love your enthusiasm, GanjaD. I need a GanjaD for the new project... can I cut off one of your toes and stick it in my EZCloner?

I had a good day too. Ain't it nice when the sun comes out to play?

Hey dude, those are gonna be monsters. Wondered if you have considered multi rootballing each plant? Peace GS

You take the bottom branches and tie them down, burying a portion of the stalk in dirt. Keep moist like cuttings. Its kinda like layering. The buried portion creates another rootball. More root mass means more product. This is a method I read from some folks calling themselves the Caregivers. Just a thought. Hope all goes well for you. Peace GS

I've never heard of this before but I can see where it would make sense. Would cutting the nodes from the stalk and and coating in rooting medium help with this?

I have heard some people suggest this and even a couple kooky Hawaiians that said they did it but I just don't see any real advantage. Why mess with success. Planty said he had a plant that started doing this so hopefully he can be the guinea pig.

Always mess with success...at least on a couple of plants. proving your self wrong more often than right is a key to wisdom.

I find that FEAR is the only thing that holds me back from trying new and possibly ill-concieved new things... (Fear of not doing as well as I might have if i hadn't...) but with all the plants we're running this year, bro, there is a LOT of room for experimentation. In the game of growing monsters one of them might as well be frankenstein.

I am trying to overcome my fear of wasting a plant or two with this idea and with smarty in smarty "transplanting"... I am going to do the latter for sure, but 2/3 the way thru the home garden plug-in and I have not been able to force myself to do it.

Funny... this topic of multiple rooting points has been coming up a lot. Planty found this happened to pne of his black box plants.

We are some of the that get to experiment. Wouldn't have brought it to you attention if I didn't think there would be an advantage. I mean ya can't win if ya don't play. Good luck regardless. I gotcha on lock now. Peace GS

Hey there are plenty of new techniques and risks we take every year that is just not one I have ever been compelled to try. I really don't think that would be the secret to 20 lb plants but you never know. There is always plenty more to learn. I look forward to seeing what Planty's does.

What a great spot. That veiw is killer. That Blue Dream does look like she loves it out by you. These things are going to be giants come fall.

Ganja D nice shoes

Yes Dev0n that would help. Ya nomaad I am an indoor grower and have directly correlated root mass with yield. Have yet to try it indoors. Seems a logical crossover to me. Plus the folks I read about it from were outdoor growers. Peace GS

I agree that there is a correlation between root mass and yield. But that does not mean that multiple rooting sites competing for pot space is more efficient than a single site in the pot. I'd be intersted to see a serious experiment on the subject.

That plant was actually one that stood out to me since mid march as a small seedling. It has so much strength to it's structure and vigorous growth. The smell in early veg was like butterscotch!
I am in awe of it. Almost perfect node spacing for my taste.:)
