How to use a window for vent without being shady?

I have been growing with a 400 watt system and have gotten the hang of it pretty good. Im looking to expand my growing and either get a 2 bedroom apartment, One room for a 1000 watt flower 250 mother veg, and the other room for me and my girl. The other option I like more because I dont have to worry about nosy friends sayin whats in the other room is just get a one bedroom apartment around where i work and go there and instead of working out at home Id work out there and hang there for a couple hours after work take care of plants then go home. What plan do you think is better? I am sick of not doing this big grow that Ive wanted to do for ages.
Now for the question I came here in the first place for.
How do you vent out of a window bringing cool air in and blowing hot air out without it looking shady? Also for the future what would you do in the winter time?
For my 400 grow Ive just let the window open a couple inches in the winter time so it was no big deal. But the summer Id have to leave the window wide open and for august end of july id have to have the air conditioning cranking.

This is what I do: I have an air intake (fresh supply) that is passively fed from the home.
The window which is used for exhaust is secured open with a screw. The window is covered with a screen, curtain, or something to block view of the vent but allow airflow. Then just attach a piece of plywood or drywall to the window, and vent through that.
My carbon scrubber is in the room and vents directly through the window.
The negative air pressure ensures that all escaping air is scrubbed.

Only problem with this, is that if the air coming out your window is relatively hotter than the surrounding temps, LEO can pick up on the IR signature of your exhaust and potentially use that to fake an affidavit for a search warrant.

Highly unlikely to happen to someone with 1 or 2 small lights, but if you got just 1 light and any reason for people to think you are growing weed then you may be setting your self up for a all expense paid trip to the big heezy. fo sheezy?

Thanx for the quick replys.
Che but the window would still be open all the time even in the winter? Wouldnt that look a little strange. If the summer gets to hot in there Id have to use a air conditioner and somehow vent out the hot air at the same time right ? Also I would have to have a connector that has both hot air coming from the 250 and 1000 directly out one vent right ? Thanx for the help
Capn If they really wanted to couldnt they use the heat goggles as well and see a giant hot light?

I'm not going to ascertain or deny that heat signatures are detectable, but I will say that venting in this way has brought the temps in my grow to normal room temp levels, and as such I'd be inclined to believe that this of itself would reduce the heat signature.

Depends on the temp of the air exiting the exhaust. Check out videos of FLIR in action.

haze12421 - it gets more complicated when you add A/C etc because the AC exhaust will likely have to be scrubbed as well.
As for looking strange, you have options. I choose to only crack my vent window, but it will depend on the visibility and design of your window I guess.

Another option, is to only vent your lights. If you can keep the air pressure up to avoid picking up any smells, you might be able to just run the cold air across the lights and then straight to exhaust. Again, it's getting more complicated, but you can work out a rather effective system.

Why not rent a house with a basement instead? Then you would have cooler temps and more privacy.....

I wonder if using an old A/C window unit's shell would solve the problem? Taking out the guts and hanging the shell in the window would not look out of place and window units operating in the summer time would give off considerable heat anyway. You could easily mod the inside with plywood/sheetmetal/whatever for your exhaust. Just my two cent.

Only problem that is, you can't run in the winter.

lol...there's the rub! But short of exhausting inside, I can't see how else to do it. Maybe another option is to rent an old house and exhaust to the attic? Or, in another room in the house? If it is a very large grow, one would need to keep an eye on humidity levels, though.

I lived in a townhouse and vented to the attic. OR you can vent to a heater vent the rises out the top of the roof. The heater is usually in a small dedicated closet.

But I think the "Dummy AC" is a fantastic ideer.

Dose your window opens vertically from the bottom?
How exposed or scrutinized is your widow?
For a whole room of plants, it must need a lot of air and exhaust.

Maybe by opening the window a couple inches and fashioning a thin black screen and external hood (to cover and protect screen) is all you need.

Attach the ducts to the screen using those HVAC spreaders, (skinny funnels)

I never done this, just an idea.

Also, likely for a small grow,.. I remember reading on here or OG about some extremely ambitious apartment dwellers getting their intake from inside the walls and exhausting into the sewer.

Im getting ready to start my new op i was going to intake from house and exhaust thru laundry does any think of any issues with that?

As long as your exhaust is scrubbed clean, that seems reasonable to me. I've seen it done before..

Mess, just had to point it out.

I was faced with this same issue just recently. I eventually said fuck the window and ended up just in-taking/exhausting all from the attic. Most likely not an option though for you mosis? Cutting up the house does suck.
