this is not true and this thread should be deleted.

You're right, LostTribe. amanda88 said it best, "hundreds of books, thousands of scientific and horticultural papers, and not once did any of these high end nerds ever detail such an easy test or observation, ...

and all from a noobie here on ICMAG.. on his 34th post.."

EPIC THREAD FAIL!!!

I think the strains I have starting are good for this, it's very clear even on the bigger ones.... I'll let you guys know how it works for me, labeled mine today so I'll know in about 4-6 weeks.lol.

Let's not jump the gun guys and gals, we all need to be a little be more patient on this matter, would be quite a handy hack if it has truth to it.

I have about 6 plants that are just being sexed right now. I got a picture of all of them just about at the right time from the OP stated its best to read the plants, and so far the 2 with the longer node distant are males. The other 4 still havent showed sex, but ill let u guys know how it goes. From the pictures it looks like I'll end up with 3 or 4 females. The last one is hard to tell if its 1cm further or not. I'll post the pics once I confirm all the females.

Peace!

then you would using the CFL incorrectly... CFLs encourage shorter internoding...

Dont wanna be a nag... too many variables... like people mentioned does lighti g matter? Strength? Again i assume at that size and age lighting may not matter as much. Def cfls with high lumens per sq ft produce the bushiest shortest internode plants ive ever seen.

As the op is the only o e with experience can you please provide more details to your method.... so we can reproduce and confirm.... :tiphat:

Agreed, light/lumen intensity, strain variety can be a factor. Know an IC Mag member that uses a pen light to establish sex, but not after a week.

I've grown hundreds of plants, if not close to a few 1000 in my lifetime, seen others plants as well and yes, males tend to be a bit taller, but like moses wellfleet, I won't yank until I actually know it's male. Many times I "thought" plants were male because of the height/internode and they were female!

The verdict is not in....yet. Will watch.

no sale ..I aint buying it at all..i however have 36 seedlings needing sexing soon...yeehaw...I have grown a whole lot of seeds and sometimes females are taller and sometimes males shorter....so I doubt this hack works...but hey I got seedlings and some free time..i also have thousands of seeds...

Seems like there would be too many variables. Good for an early guess? Sure, but chopping down plants that early seems a little rash.

I tried it..... Lies! The plants where easy to tell apart, some where right at first leaves others a large gap..... Mixed males females in both.... Except my. s1's.... Those where still al female, lol.

Def do not cull on these principals.

Damn, it sounded a bit too good to be true, hard to believe that something so crucial had never been spotted by thousands of us growing millions of seeds.

Is the OP going to let us know which "legend" passed out this tip ?

an easier way to test the hypothesis is to check whether all your feminized seed plants are under 1 cm. definitely will be interesting to see if it works. im also realy surprised by the number of closed minded individuals. it doesn't hurt anything to study it further. its not like you have to damage the plant

So what is the benefit to knowing this soon?

Like others said, I wouldn't be culling, because of a rule of thumb..

Growing weed is a game of patience, little short cuts like these undermine the learning process of noobs... just my opinion

what of these 2 on the left? they are about a week old or really close to it. I don't really keep track of veg too much these days.

if they're too far along to tell I got 4 more. lemme know if you can determine anything and i'll keep track of em till they sex.

for the record that plant that i have on the left in the first pic was female. the other one was dead.

all 3 survivors of the 4 seeds in the tray were also females.

there may be some merit to this jizzum jazzum here. more careful study is needed.

No.... I did the study.... 100's of seeds, mixed in both groups, and yes my S1's with the bigger stretch should have been my first clue, lol

My friend use to say when the little hair leaf thing by the branches where crossed= female open = male.... But he crazy.....
