cool, Ill look out for this on my next seed run (shame I didnt hear it a few weeks ago)... and you don't think light distance is a factor in the first week? (ie stretching)

edit - just looked on this pic from last round, you can clearly see that there's a difference in some...shame I didnt label them ...

I will try this also . What made you look and label them and try this? Or just males are taller so u started watching from the beginning ,and seen a few seedlings that were taller and keep a eye on them and they turned out to become a male?

Seems extremely useful if true but I'm a skeptic.

How did you go about coming to your conclusion?

How many seedlings have you observed from the time they pop until sexual maturity*?
*Sexual maturity being defined as when a plant moves from opposite petioles to alternating.

I'm very curious to try this tech out but no plans to pop seeds until February or March.

In the last few batches of seeds I've popped I've had many females that were more vigorous than their male counterparts. This is observed more in the super duper poly crosses, from my perspective.

then you would using the CFL incorrectly... CFLs encourage shorter internoding...

seems unlikely as that would mean i have only 2/10 females in my malawi +black lime and 2/8 in my rez sssdh . i normally have a lot higher ratio than that . but i,ve tagged them all the same as females . we shall see . i,m calling bs though . i will say those 2 of each strain will be girls , but others will as well . so won't be classified as a method in my eyes .

As soon as the cotyledons and the first single blade open and before the second true pairs of leaves come out the males will stretch while the females don't. The window is short. Practice makes perfect.

I go through a lot of seed. It works, try it.

I've been growing for over 8 years, read hundreds of books, thousands of scientific and horticultural papers,

and not once did any of these high end nerds ever detail such an easy test or observation, ...

and all from a noobie here on ICMAG.. on his 34th post..

Can you please advise the membership on how this particular method works..? without involving any hormone use...?
