How to maximize efficiency on 1000w hps?

Thats the idea but I dont decide from the seedplant,I'll decide from the first or second set of flowered clones. You can get a good idea from the flowered seedplant, but the flowered clone is what you'll be growing maybe for years to come,is this making any sense? As long as you take a cutting before you go 12/12 you can perpetuate a pheno for years.

How long can you keep a clone fairly small? I'm doing a small grow, and I don't have a ton of space. I plan on taking a clone of everything, putting them under 12/12 for sexing, discarding all the males, and then taking a few clones from each female to keep for possible mothers. How long can I keep them fairly small, because I don't see the point in growing them out huge if the final product isn't very good. If I could keep them in a semi-stasis like state for a month or two that'd be great, is there any way to do that?

You can fit a lot more than 16 1 gallons under that light. I know folks that run 16 5 gallons

S.I You've got it now except I'll go maybe 2 or 3 "generations" of clones dropping pheno's along the way until I'm left with the most desirable pheno.Again, you may get a good idea of which p[heno to keep from the seedplant, but I like to decide from the finished clone be it second "generation",or maybe the fourth or fifth.

Here's a good way to understand it,say you grow out 10 seeds and end up with 5 female seedplants. All 5 plants have different physical characteristics(pheno's).After growing out the seedplants you grow out their clones,on this grow there are 5 clones. You definately see two of the plants are shitty yielders so you drop them.Next grow you have 3 clones. You see that 1 is clearly inferior and the other two are almost equal in yield and quality, after growing them out you realize that 1 pheno finishes a full 10 days earlier than the other of equal size and quality,so you drop the two pheno's keeping the pheno with the best yield.quality and finishing time.I may go 3 or 4 "generations" growing the clones and dropping pheno's along the way until I'm left with the killer. The most important thing is to always take cuts from your clones in late veg BEFORE you go 12/12 starting with the original seedplant all the way on down the line. This is of utmost importance if you want to keep things viable for years to come.Take cuts after 12/12 has commenced, even just a few days with some pheno's,and you end up eventually with funky single and 3 bladed fans and vegging cuts fdull of pistils which you dont want. You want good "veg" cuts preferably totally free of pistils in the veg stage
