How to keep your pipe clean, the easy way.

A nice easy way to clean your pipes, is simply go to the store, get some polident for dentures, get a cup or whatever size bowl you need, put in some warm water, not hot or cold. Drop in the tablet, and put in the pipe. After about 6 minutes, take it out rinse it off with cold water, and dry. Cleans the pipes every time, and is simple as pie.

Thanks Bazeado, it's great using this way, almost hands free. The resin build up can really be hard to get off otherwise. And if there's alot of resin, this way helps loosen it up, then you scrape it off, and re-do it again in the polident.

i do almost the same thing, except with 99%ISO, soaked longer, and rinsed and shaken out in really hot water.

i've found that the best ways to dry pieces is first by flinging the water out of them (do not throw your pipe while doing this, i think about that everytime), and then sucking on the damn thing once or twice really forcefully.

another way i dry them is at about 200 degrees(F) in a toaster oven on top of a folded or layered paper towel.

i think that starting off with a dry one gives the smoke resin less to attach itself to.

Recently heard the compressed detergent tabs used in electric dishwashers also do the trick...haven't tried it yet so can't say if it works.
Anyone tried this method? Sounds easy enough though

Nope, but will give it a try next time to see, and thanks for suggesting that as well. But speaking of dishwashers, gotta love them for keeping the scissors clean, especially after trimming.

See, I'm just lucky. I got the best pipe ever! J/K Seriously though, all I have to do to clean it is set it under the hot water in the sink, leave it for 5 or 10 minutes and it looks like brand new. I've never had it clog once either, and you never suck anything into your mouth after the first bowl or 2.

Purple Power works awesome, but I don't like using a chemical to clean my pipe.

Never tried the pepsodent thing though. Sounds easy. Thanks for the tip.

This has nothing to do with this topic, but since water was brought up, what the hell, huh.
The ink they use to take your fingerprints with, if you ever have the unfortunate experience, always use cold water with soap to get it off, lol. Hot water will make it stick and stain, but don't expect the occifer to tell you that.

A one that i use is alcohol with salt. this really kills the resin and when you shake it the salt grains rip through like nothing. your glass will look like the day you got it.

For years I have used lacqure thinner, potent stuff and it doeas the job. Recently I switched to OXY clean, a 20 minute soak in warm water and OXY clean produces a nice clean pipe. It s cheap too. But I won't be doing that much longer the Volcano is on the way!

Simple Green has always worked for me,soak pipes overnight, rinses out crystal clear the next day with water.Best of all you can buy it at most grocery stores with the other cleaners,and its non toxic.This stuff works no matter how dirty your pipes are, I've had pipes so clogged with resin that they would ocaisonally catch on fire while smoking!But all have came out looking brand new with simple green.

Simple Green always keeps my Bongs clean. A little hot water, some Simple Green concentrate, and shake for 2 minutes, bam! Clean bong!

Cheap, biodegradable, and no horrible ISO/Resin/Salt mixture to deal with(i hate that crap).

Isopropyl Alcohol(70%) and salt in a zip-loc baggie. Works every time and comes out clean as a whistle.

I just gave the iso/salt mix a go...worked like a champ on very dirty glass swirl pipe...the dirty solution suspends resin and if you get it on you or any thing else will leave a sticky resin residue as the iso quickly evaporates...other than that it worked great...just rinsed in boiling water. I've used Polident or Efferdent denture cleaner with decent results. I bet denatured alcohol and salt would work excellent. I'll try that next time.

iso 70% is good 91% will clean it better and faster and 99% will make it sooo darn clean you won't even want to smoke out of it.use any of these alcohols with salt for cleaning i have learned that sea salt works well rock salt even better and epsom salt awsome. i have celaned my pieces with just about everything form hot water to soap to detergent to the cleaning schtuff they sell at head shops and let me say by far the faster and most effective way is iso... i can clean my pipe my bongs and my bowls in 20 minteus for 4 pices spotless everytime ...ISO is soo good you can save the dirty iso and reuse it , i do this with my bowls i will take a tuporware and fill it half way with iso and then poour a bunch of salt in there place bowl and shake. or let sit while using one bowl and then go in rinse a few times and wala spotless everytime....

i use Formula420 Pipe Cleaner ( from the head shop) but when i can't get down the hill to get some, i just use good ol Rock salt and alcohol,,, Both work great,, tho the latter is a bit cheaper!:wink:

HEY Dutchgrown!!! Those Dishwasher tabs work like a champ. I ran out of my rubbing alcohol so I used that instead. Worked like a champ. Just had to rinse it real good with hot water.

A friend of mine uses and swears by baking soda and water, I use iso myself.
