1. Regular burglars that don't know anything about the grow breaking in. I would have to deal with them myself since it would be pretty risky to call the police here. I don't keep a firearm here since it would make a grow bust much worse, and even if I did there's too great a chance that shots would get the police called.
2. Rippers.
If the police are going to get in they're going to get in one way or another if they really want to. The security cameras let me know what's going on though. If they're poking around or if they come for a knock and talk I want to know it. If I hear a door knock I always check the camera instead of going to look out the door.

You would get much better reliability out of a hard-wired system, especially if you're wanting to view the stream live.
