ok, got the 50+ posts. so how does one join a social group? I can't find a "join" link on the group I like.

While viewing the group you want to join: Click on the "join group" link on the upper right hand corner of your screen, above the group avatar.
Some groups will require an invite to join, but most are open.
Also, it takes a while for the 50 posts to kick in, after you get em.. So hang in there.
