How to grow Dense Nugs

Wow, thanks all for the replies.

I'm growing under 600w lamps that are 8-12" from my canopy with AirCooling. Each 600w covers a 3'x3' area on a table. so thats 66wpsf, plenty. My humidity is very high with lights on it drops as low as 55-60%. With lights off it's as high as 70-80%. I have no great way of controlling this, besides running a full time heater in my room... but is the extra 1000w for a heater worth it? Thats going to be about 100$ per month to run..

I dont know if the heater will even help. Is it an issue of a cold environment in general? Because when you heat cold air you create mositure aka humidity. I tried an attic grow one using space heaters because of cold winter temps. The humidity was through the roof trying to warm the area. I dont think you will have issues wit 70% humidity at night... as long as you are coming back down to the 50% range with lights on.

You can run a dehumidfier in the room that'll burn as low as 500-600 watts. turn off your exhaust fan at lights off and the machine will raise the room temps so you'll see less change in temp from day/night.

With the exhaust fan off you may have to run a scrubber in the room if smell is an issue..

I had asked the same Q on OG. But after 6 months of curing my first grow last year those light buds did the "job"

I grew up on hard bud but I believe that's mostly due to the product packaging & delivery...smaller space=less chance of a bust.

i like this thread alot.... i have in my experience observed that with high humidity(70%ish) in the first 2-3weeks of flower when buds start to show and start filling in, then dropping the RH% to as low as possible i would end up with larger than avg(for me) buds. i do believe that its because of the extra flufyness in early flower. ...

btw. co2/wpsf... <--- very big factor!

I have been able to produce rock hard nuggs that will leave a bruise if thrown at someone..:D

what I believe has contributed to this is my lights on temps are always around 72f.-76f. and lights off are 69f.-73f

also adding co2 seems to tighten them up but only if your room is on the warm side like 80-85f. that you will notice...

also bloom additives,...I have always had rock hard buds using pk-13/14,...I wont grow without it anymore,...and no it isnt for commercial growers or lower the qaulity of bud,..only makes the qaulity better,.....however, superbud or bushmaster will produce lesser qaulity buds as it not only stops vertical growth it shuts down certain bloom hormones needed to produce thrichs, etc.

genetics also play an important part of producing tight buds but ive grown some whispy sativas that were pretty hard,....I would usually cure like a half pound in their own brown grocery bag lined with a plastic bag and shake up daily.

I also keep my humidity in veg like at 55%-58% but doesnt seem to matter as much as the humidity in bloom, which I keep at 45%-50%,...I also believe the plants produce more trichs/oils with lower humidity as a natural deffense from a dry climate..

The same thing everyone else said. But, I was curious when last time you changed your bulb was? They do lose efficiency at a fairly rapid rate, I like to change mine every 6 months or so.

About the time most people put their buds in a jar for curing is when you can put the bud into a vacuum sealed pouch to cure. The compression removes the spaces within the bud and makes it much more dense.

Otherwise.... #1 genetics #2 light #3 nutrients #4 temperatures

As always I learned a few things, confirmed a few things, and read a few things that have me scratching my head in this thread. First, how the heck do you avoid scorching plants with 1KW only a foot from the plant? My measly 150 starts roasting tops at anything less than 6-7 inches. I'm guessing that's my POS cone shaped reflector biting me in the ass? Plus no air cooling... well I guess that's an upgrade for the future.
