Force Flowering
Force Flowering
Evening peeps'. I have heard of a few growers doing Force Flowering.
I have wanted to do this for some time, but am rather limited to space. Mainly due to the fact that my garden is not that big enough to place another shed (as i already have 2). But i have done some growing in the shed (soil, coco, htdro and dwc), as well as generally growing MJ in pots outdoor.
The other day i bumped into a fella who not only has just got the green finger bug, but started force flowering back in june (so no doubt he will be cropping in 3 or 4 weeks time).
The generall sensus from my neck of the woods is if you have a shed, that's ideal for the 12hr dark period. But a few peeps' have mentioned just throwing a large heavy-duty black bin liner over the plants.
If you can construct a small frame, wrapped in white/black/white, that would be very ideal as it can me made bespoke to your needs.
Interesting point
(Although on a different matter)
Also from test's i'v done in the past regarding light regime (indoors), was increasing the light after flowering has been initiated. 3 1/2 - 4 weeks into 12/12 incerease the light period by 10-15 minutes every other day, so that by week 6 the light is 14 1/2 - 15 hours on, 9 1/2 - 9 hours off(respectively).
I was on 15/9 for 1 week. With 2 weeks to harvest on a 60 day strain. Then decreased light by 10 minutes each day. It prolonged flowering by a week but increased yeild slightly and potentcy was big.
My point is (as freezer boy stated) "most strains will flower with less than 12 hours of darkness". But 12 hours of uninterupted dark will be eccential in the first 3 weeks of bloom to induce flowering. Once an Indica (mainly a 100% Indica) plant is locked in flowering it won't stop. Where as a Sativa will reveg if light were to increase from 12 hours (hence why it's suggested to decrease light from 12/12 to 10/14 (or even 8/16) in the last 2/3 weeks of bloom).
The conclusion is That when the light decreases the plant know's autumn is on it's way and it needs to reproduce (like us all!).
