How to feed a plant that doesn't need water

So here is the scoop, my plants which are just starting there 3rd week. Don't ever seem to go dry. They are in 3.7 gal buckets, SS #4. They are very happy, first watering gave 1 gal each and didn't water until 8 days later. The soil was still very wet (have a moisture meter) but they had started to wilt. Due to lack of salt in my opinion. So i gave them 1/2 gal each and the next day they were happy as can be. This week i am hitting them before they wilt. I know it will happen. but the soil is still very wet!? I want to avoid root rot but i know what they need. Any suggestions would be great. Temp never goes above 75 F never drops below 62.

Thank you for your help
It is not a lack of salt but a lack of moisture!!! Common sense dude; when you water them they become happy, 8 days later they're not happy until you come along and water them again.:bashhead:

If your having trouble judging, weight is the way most people tell when they need water. I don't think I would trust a meter. Overwatered/some kind of root zone issue they sag in a certain way. Hard to describe but it looks different than a plant tht is wilting from thirst. I agree with ass lover, if they are looking improved after watering they are just thirsty. I have never seen an over watered plant perk up from being watered.

personally I wouldnt trust those moisture meters! they are NOT reliable. You seem to have a pretty good grasp on what your plants want & imo you cant beat that. Any pics of your set up?

Here is a few pics. Taken last week. Lights are off right now. I understand that the moisture meter is useless. I know what wet dirt feels like though. Thats the issue i know what my buckets feel like when they are wet or dry.

Just so everyone knows. This is not my first grow for those of you who think this is a newbie problem. I am going to up the temp in the room and go from there, rh is below 40% at night

Given that your pictures look okay, and this isn't your first time etc, I would suspect either VPD environment situation or some kind of root zone issue, if they stopped drinking entirely. From my anecdotal experience when VPD is getting plants (it can be even for a couple hours a day in an air cooled room, sometimes shit just gets out of balance in the middle of the night and you don't realize it) That not only will they suffer the slowdown from the VPD, but it can also eventually lead to salt buildup, because the plants shut down and the fed nutrients are only absorbed by the soil.

So the plants were drinking fine a couple weeks ago? Then stopped at some point? Sorry if these are repetitive questions, I just think its important to establish that they were healthy plants.

What was your old temp? I would be concerned about raising temp while the RH is still 40%, hopefully they will come up in relation to each other.

Is the room air cooled or is it a sealed room?

Just my .02 man, honestly only relaying problems and solutions that i have experienced. I only ran SS#4 a couple times, I liked it, got good results, but if I was gonna do it again I would definitely ad more perlite and some lime. The charge in SS#4 doesn't (IME) survive an extended veg and flower.

SS#4 is a great media if you are feeding synthetics. I don't think you can do much better, if you are feeding organics or synthetic organics you may want to run something with some actual soil in it. I have never had PH problems with FFOF or happy frog, I have seen plants in those medias slow down there drinking though. One thing that has worked for me is fabric pots with floor fans hitting them. I used to do this in the summer without AC, I found that I could cheat out a bit more comfort for the plants by cooling there root zones down. I am sure this also sped up evaporation though, and would ultimately need to be considered in your feed strength.

It is a sealed room. It is naturally very cold in there. They have always been healthy just not drinking the way they should. I was water 2-3x a week when in veg. Now once a week in flower. Veg and flower are seperate. Now that i an thinking about it the veg room is quite a bit warmer than flower. 15 f or so

More than likely it is an environment thing. Sometimes when its stupid cold its best to disconect the light ducting so it pulls room air and dumps into the room. Then get an 8" exhaust and maybe 6" intake depending on how cold it is. Hook them both up to a thermostat and a lot of the time your money. For whatever reason, IME, running a room in a cold environment works out well that way. It creates enough air exchange to keep humidity where it should be etc. Not sure if your burning gas for co2 or not, that won't work well with a burner, but its a thought anyway.

Good luck man, bet it will perk up when you get the environment dialed. I always ran bloom around 75F until a couple members here convinced me to go up to like 77-80 and I have noticed fantastic growth. I still cool it down late in flower for fall colors and to tighten them up, but the sweet spot for me is high 70's.
