How to deal with the men that read electric meters

I don't know if you have this type of thing there, but my power company offers a read it yourself program.
You read the meter and dial it in on a card you put out front for them to come by and read. No need to go in the backyard to get to the meter.

That can't tell with that little bit of juice. Smell is a way bigger worry. It looks suspicious if you're reading it for them on the tele. That digitally read them from a car nowadays also. As long as you are not stealing juice you should concentrate on smell.

PS: Stay smart don't brag to others about your room to be cool.
Listen to your plants.

Good luck bro,

this Hits for you, exhales.

power companies don't bother good paying customers.

as long as you pay ontime, they would like you to use more power so they make more money.

it doesn't make sense to drive away your highest paying customers by ratting them out......now, don't pay your bill or try and steal power and thats a different story.

Where I am, my bill was about $45-60 per month before I started my 600w hps. With 600w it is now hovering around $100

Haha never thought of that. I think my microwave is 1300 watts itself haha

yes but the kettle isnt running 12 hours a day, neither is a microwave!!!

but yea 1200w isnt gonna get picked up i doubt.

Make sure your lights don't run during the day from 9-5, they shouldn't be running then anyway to keep temperatures down. But then again, I have a friend who ran about 6000 watts in his house just on computers......

Dont worry mate, im uk and my direct debits have been £300 per month at one point with 6 HPS lights

Its down to £160 now lol

I had a digital meter fitted last year on the side of my house, right in the middle of my flower cycle and never knew about it, they just posted a slip thru the door which i found when i got in from work!!! I usually give readings on line now but the guy comes every now and then to take readings, never had any problems. Check the smell in your electric meter box tho if its on the side of your house just in case any smell leaks into it from inside the house, walls etc, especially since the meter guy will be poking his nose in it every few months

I remember last year my direct debit failed so i had to ring to set it back up again, i had a good chat about the costs of heating etc and said my bills are so high since i got my conservotory with an electric heater in it ( which ive never turned on but its 3000 watts). She said oh you should see some bills, she was saying people that dont have gas and that run electric heating can get £300 per month bills!!

They see high useage every day mate, loads of different reasons. :):)

The meters here are read by a device on the truck...all he has to do is drive down my road and the meters get read. I never get an electric employee on my property unless they come to cut trees away from the lines...every 5 years or so. Only a huge surge in power would get their attention. I have the best landlord in the world....4 years and never a visit to check the place. I pay on time and pray that he never has a reason to inspect. The power company is the last worry most of us have.

You could always just kidnap him, tie him up, and drive him to a remote location... Until the next meter man comes along...
