how much pollen can destroy a crop?

Hi folks,

I am having very little success in trying to find out if my first crop is gonna turn out as a full of seeds total disaster?

What I need to know is if 4 tiny male looking flowers could have ruined my whole crop that is only a few weeks away from being ready for the chop?

Ok, I have 2 plants @ 9 weeks old. One went 12/12 8weeks ago, the other 6 weeks ago. The one that went 12/12 first has over an Oz of nice looking, frosty buds. There are absolutely no signs of any seeds developing anywhere on the buds. The pistils are starting to brown all over it now.

The one that has been 12/12 for six weeks is also covered in nice fat buds with no signs whatsoever of seed production anywhere! On this plant however, I have found about four tiny little flowers that look male to me. Luckily they were all found under the plants canopy which is really thick, lets hardly any light through, and is too enclosed to have any air movement from my fan. One of these suspect bits hadn't opened and when I had a good look at it after pinching it off, it had a tiny amount of wet yellow, what I am thinking to be, pollen! There are no more of these suspect parts but I fear they have been there for a while and were too small for me to notice.

As I have said, neither of these plants are showing any signs of seed production at all. It would be crazy for me to bin the plant that had these bits as it has over an Oz of bud on it now easy.

Please, if you have had any experience like mine, or know the score, let me know if I am gonna be ok! Surely 4 tiny flowers (like no more than 2mm wide) stuck under the canopy couldn't fertilise all of my buds? if they had done so, i would be seeing seed production for sure by now wouldn't I?

Thanks for any and all replies

I'm panicking so please help if you can!

here's a few pics-am i gonna lose this lot????????

Peace

If you don't have a fan running in the room you really don't have anything to worry about. - I re read and you do..

I have had plants that like to drop pollen 3 weeks towards the end on the bottom and the only thing they polinated was bud sites directly under them.

I don't run fans and don't have allot of air circulation though.

And if it really was only 4 male flowers that would not be many seeds

If you have ANY circulation whatsoever all it takes a TAD of pollen to make HUNDREDS of seeds.

Bun, I think you may have heat problems by the looks of your leaves

Which is exactly what i have seen .
Twice.

First time was due to a handfull of flowers within the bud , second was a recent SD hermie where i must have missed a very few.

Both caused 500+ mature seeds in a mixed room , the first also created many thousands of immature seeds and had to be bubblebagged.

Read somewhere there is up to a million pollen grains in a flower , not sure if it was weed but certainly lots.
If you are lucky the pollen may not be very fertile and spraying with slightly soapy water may help destroy its viability whilst inspecting/removeing with tweezers. .
Raiseing general humidity may also help but mould could start.

If you disturb a flower and pollen spills or you find open flowers a thorough spray down may save damage or at least limit its spread.

Personally i would check every day and see if might be due to environmental stress though this seems quite common in femmed seed from some breeders even under optimal conditions.

No danger if you catch them at this stage.
