How much ice do i need.........

if u need ice fast, you can also get those huge party blocks of solid ice, smash them up into fist sized pieces and mix with party ice cubes. gives good results and the ice doesnt melt as fast.

Cheers Bram...ye, I remember reading somewhere agaes ago, when i was 1st reading about methods of extraction and just starting to grow, that using a block of ice that u have hacked into chunks urself with an icepick will work better than cubes....if I remember it was something to do with the irregular shapes and sharp edges, and like you mmention, the tendancy not to melt as quickly that makes it so.
so people, do you all think it may be a good idea to have some extra ic on hand to add in halfway throuh the mixing if it is melting too quickly?????

7lbs of ice per 100g-to 120g grams of trim for 1st run, add 3.5 lbs to the 2nd run and the ice will last a third (if you want a third).
i mix for 30 minutes and wait 15 to settle before pouring through filter bags.

Well, I dont have enough Ice for a second run on this occasion, ..but I do have a plan!! the owner of a local growshop who i was chatting with today dries his trim after a run and makes cannabutter with it after the 12st run, so I think thats whhat ill do this time and makes some cakes for a BBQ at the weekend!..i might use some in my soup as well, Harrys special Veg soup learned at catering college when i was a little swine and not allowed to go to school at 14......so I did a chef course instead of school, and this soup is about the only thing i can remember forom there I was so stoned all the time, lol.... It could be Harry's Happy soup, like the Happy pizza place in Phnom Penh (sp??) Cambodia...
anyway back on subject.... ill take some pics of the run to get up when I can again...

Well....I did it!....

Well....I did it!....

and i am very very happy with the result
It melts!!! 1st attempt and it melts
I only did the one run....got 2 grams amd its the best shit ive ever smoked in my life I fuckin swear it
I pulled the fluroescant yellow bag(the one with the leaves in it) 1st and I could see the colour of the water like wally said i wanted...a caramel colour...so then i ulled the red one, and this is what had the goodies in..I let it drain and set it aside, pulled the purple and to my astonishment there was absoloutely nothing ayt all in it whatsoever....anyway, I used the inside out on top of the bucket method and a credit card to get it all up...
this chep set didint hyave a pressing screen with it, so i put it on a coffe filter, then put that on another, and placed 2 more on top of the whole lot...this was then wrapped in the towel and I used the rolling pin to get the moisture out..
then I trabsferred the lump to a fresh filter paper and chopped it up as fine as possible and put it to dry on a couple mopre filter papers stacked up....
I tried a bit staright away after chopping it up and was blown away....
It is great, I only need a pin head literally and when im exhaling the cloud that billows out, lol....
Im definately going to save up for some proper bubbleman ones now!!

2 grams! how much trim did you use? I have cheap bags as well and started out with small end resluts as well. The one lesson i learned that helped me was to pull up the work bag until the ice is level with top of the waterline ( until looks real chunky ). i hold up the work bag up in place with a bungie cord around the bucket.
30 minutes of blend time 15 minute of settle time each run.
240G = 33.8g

Oh im very happy with what i got....I never wieghed it but it was half a small plastic supermarket bag.....
I could have done another run, but I didnt.....
also, My trim was dried, and not frozen beforehand....My uncle forgot to put it in the freezer in the shed...
The bulk of the trim used was from a crop of not very potent smoke...it had crystal but wasnt caked up like for instance sour bubble...... I was happy to get anything back, coz Id be composting it otherwise

It took me about 3 tries and a few mixers before I got it right. I look back now on all the hash I lost and wish someone would have told me what I've learned the hardway.
