how much humidity is too low?

I was reading in the sick plants forum and it said,

"When your Relative humidity is low, you can almost bet your going to soon get a potassium deficiency from your plants perspiration.
Potassium can get poorly absorbed when having too much Calcium or ammonium nitrogen, and maybe cold weather."

my humidity is at: 27% - 84 degrees

should I add a small humidifier?

a small humidifier would do the trick, but keep in mind that once winter is over, you probably won't need it anymore.

gerenally speaking try to create a nice environement, no rough conditions, everything should be avarage, temps, RH, etc..

Yea 27% is really low IMO. I try to run like 60-70% in veg, and then dropp it way down when the buds set in. High humidtity is most necessary in the small seedling stage IMO.

If you're growing in a closet/cab you can just hang a towel from the ceiling and have the end dipped in a bucket of water so it "wicks" the moisture up. Ghetto and temporary, but it works.

If you do get a de/humidifier, make sure you have a pretty sealed room, or it wont do you much good.

I'll probably just get a dehumidifer I don't they they cost that much, but where do you put it? inside your cab, or outside? and should I put it next to the vent?

It depends on other conditions like cab temps but I am plagued by low RH also, you can work around it but a humidifer is best.
My closet is @ 30%RH typically which is far from optimal, a 60%RH is the best for both flowering and vegging.
I foliar feed daily with plain water and a very very small amount of liquid seaweed, it helps, just shut the HID's down for a bit or you'll damage the leaves.

My plants have been the frostiest with cooler temps(high teens) and drier air(RH at 35%).

I personally don't think 60% is optimal for flowering...I'd say below 50% is good.

agreed.
and it's fact.

'suby' : yer closet's rH doesnt fluctuate with the seasons? Whats your secret?:asskick:

are you in flowering or still vegetative?

if veg then YES, by all means.

if flowerig i say it couldnt hurt IF you are seeing problems.
if no problems dont try to fix it -
if there are, and for future runs,
35-50 is a good ballpark to shoot for, for flowering

just know that
the higher the humidity,
the more opportune for molds and mildew to take to the plants
this goes for temps as well, but to a much lesser extent

each strain has different environmental preferences,
and acts different, respectively.

well, i'm not sure what to do I only want to veg for another 1-2 weeks and flower after that. I never had this problem and used to keep HID's on 24-0 even through seedlings after they started growing, I decided to switch to 18-6, this problem just happened last night when I bought a window unit AC and put it infront of my doorway and next morning I woke up, and I see this problem.

The secret is a a closet setup with a inline for exhaust and a seperate inline for recirculating room air. There are about 3months out of the year it's just too damn hot to grow, besides the summer is for outdoor fun ;).
Setting the humidifier beside your passive intake will leave more room in the cab for buds.
I can't say for sure if a drop in RH in flowering is of any use in frosting up the buds as my RH can climb to 40% with a closet full oif foliage but my botanist guru says 60% is optimal, he's the one with the doctorat on the wall, not me lol.
In a panic all my past pics where destroyed upon the reformating of my HD bud I have had some perfectly healthy grows with a low RH, it just seems they are a little more finicky when it comes to nutes but that it.
You know I just might McGuiver something next week and throw an humidifier in there to see the diff.

 Senor, it's jinx, good to see your still busting balls.

you know just formatting your HD doesn't do anything, you might already know this but look for some software called, "CyberScrub" you can get the serial from any serial site, and it's supposed to completely clean your HD according to govt. levels, it takes about 24 hrs or more, but atleast you're safe, as far as we know.

Actually the security issue was my friend buying the computer last minute and he's comp illiterate so no worries, I couldn't bring myself to burn a CD with pot pictures on them besides I can grow others.
For a real security issue I would have set the HD on fire with lighter fluid and bough a new one lol.
Thanks for watching out for me though.

Peace
