Hey guys i dont have time to search we are making some oil for a sick patient of ours... we do not make edibles that often... We only have bud and dry shake and are trying to figure out How much bud to use to get couple strong cups of oil, what temp to cook it at and for how long???

if you are suggesting cooking the oil with water... what method do you use to remove the water....

any help will be greatly appreciated...

I used about 3 ounces of bud to 6 cups of canola oil in a crockpot for 6 hours, strained it through a coffee filter in a funnel(slow process even when hot). It came out fairly strong, but was sat dom herb, so its not a very couchlock kind of effect. I would think a good indica would KO most at that ratio.

Anyone cook thier oil mixed with water? A buddy of ours does and his girl, who actually does it for the most part, makes badass brownies. I really need to help this sick guy out. Any more tips out there?

Hey Poopy,

I'm no expert, but here's how I do it. Usually I want 2 cups of oil to use for edibles, so I start with 2 1/4 cups of vegtable oil. Fill a crock pot 1/4 to 1/2 way with water. Add oil, I brew about 75 grams of sugar trim for 2 cups of oil.

My crock pot barely boils the water, my digital thermometer usually reads 208 - 210f. This is no magic #, just what my crock does. Sometimes I stir, sometimes I don't. 24 hrs, strain into a large bowl. Alot of the oil is trapped in the cannapulp, use a potato ricer to squeeze out the oil. I tried various ways and found the ricer is the best.

Now transfer the mix of oil and water into a large ziplock bag. Have a storage container for the oil on hand, hold the ziplock by 1 corner, the bottom corner will now be the spout. Cut the corner with sissors to drain away the mucky water. Just make a small hole by cutting the corner off, you can always make it bigger, but you need control cause your gonna pinch off the flow when the water has drained. Then just let the bag drain into your container.

Mix up 3 boxes of brownie mix to make 2 13" x 9" pans, this makes them thicker. When it comes to the oil, I always add a little extra (I also withhold a little of the called for water and add another egg instead) I cook at 325f for longer than suggested, till toothpick comes out clean. Parchment paper on the bottom of the pans insures no sticking.

Let'em cool, cut into whatever size, pop'em in the freezer for a couple of minutes to get them hard, and then Seal-a-meal in 2, 3, or 4 paks.

These brownies have rocked some very experienced edible eaters. Knocked out nonsmokers.(This after written and verbal warnings against eating the whole brownie without a 1hr wait after 1/4 to 1/2 to start) Medical users really like them, so I try and save most for them. Elderly friends and family members are so much more open to using edibles theraputicly than smoking. It gives me great pleasure to help people by making brownies or cannacaps with the trim I save. I sell enough to cover cost then give the bulk to friends and family with cancer, fibromygalia, Krones. I've been told more than once, "those brownies have enabled me to sleep better than I have in years."

Sorry I rambled there, the parchment paper, ziplock bag to drain off water, and the potato ricer are the hot tips.

Good Luck.....eat 1/2 and wait 1 hr...lol

Good tutorial RipVanWeed, have you tried freezing the ziplock bag so the water is solid and then pouring out the oil? Just thinking out loud.

for my very strongest brownies, i boil all trim in water with the oil/butter in there as well...after a good boil of 45-1hr, i take it to the blender and get it all smooth, then return to the pot and reduce boiling off most of the water.

remaining is a potent pesto

a very steamy stinky and messy night in the kitchen however

I would advise using the trim etc to make QWISO, then you can smoke it, bake with it (2-4 grams per batch of food, melted in butter or oil) and even dissolve it in alcohol to make a near-flavorless "green dragon." Any other method tends to impart a strong (and not necessarily good) weed taste into the food. I used to make oil and budder, but QWISO makes it much stronger, much easier to control the doses, and a much better tasting end product.

I had my oil tested in a lab at 66% THC, so it's STRONG stuff!

RipVanWeed, awesome, thank you! How do you feel about a china cap? I ordered one today. As good OR close to the ricer?

As far as a china cap or different filters go, they don't squeeze the oil out of the mesh. I believe to get as much oil as possible you gotta press the mush. You'd be surprised how much liquid comes out of it with strong pressure, and most of it is oil.

Hey Rip...I appreciate your help! I got a china cap with a wood masher so I can press the matter out. Hopefully it works well, Amazon wanted a lot for it, lol. But since PoopyTeaBags and I are gonna make our baby food, it was really worth it. Can strain fruits out faster than my ginormous food processor can, without all the cleanup.

Sooo...the coffee filter is used by some as a secondary filter, am I right? Sorry I can't watch the vids right now....got a little baby to watch for a while. I'll make it a point to see them tonight.

Thanks:D

I second the qwiso thats what miss vaped and I do for cannameds. the miejers 99% percent Iso is the best. A rice cooker with a removable bowl is the best method I have found for evaporating the Iso. Like said above once you have the pure extract dosing is much easier. I have also melted bubble hash into Extra virgin olive oil. Mis vaped made a dozen chocolate chip cookies with 10 grams of 25 micron cooked down into a 1/4 cup of E.V.O.O.. They made almost everyone to high for comfort borderline panic attacks. I think 4 grams of hash per dozen cookies would be plenty for a really potent batch.

We have NO hash Vaped:-( We smoked it all, lol. I'm trying to get this done for a guy in your area...he really needs help soon, but we're not ready to make any bubble yet. I'm not familiar with the qwiso stuff, not sure I'd have the time to get it right. What is the method?

Put about 3/4 of jar full of shake in jar top shake with iso cap and shake for 30 seconds. pour through coffee filter using jar lid to hold back most of the shake. The coffe filter catches the rest. We use the fine stainless permanent style filter. After that we just cook the iso solution on low in the rice cooker till all scent and taste from the iso is gone. Right at the end we add a few drops of water to help cook out all of the iso. At this stage before we make edibles out of the qwiso we paint about 5 zig zags with the oil for latter doob smoking pleasure.

I can have miss vaped make some nummies too if you want to stop by on your way to drop off your meds to him. The cookies you made about a year ago with the durga just popped back into my head also what ever you did there to this day those are some of the strongest edibles I have ever ate.

Lol, that was a stick of butter with like an oz of bud in it. Still to this day, PTB won't touch edibles because I almost killed him.

I think my Mom is delivering them for me, but thanks man....I'll eat whatever though. Hope you guys are doing good. :D
