Thats a hard question to answer. I tried to get a question answered similar to yours only my place is an apartment. Basically their are way too many personal and other factors involved to get a good answer. Houses can run huge power bills with no problem. B/c of things like laundry and hot tubs etc... i think you will be fine. My bill doubled when I turned on my dual 400w hps setup.

Rule of thumb.... you can safely run a 1000 watt bulb for every bedroom your house has. This is what i've heard atleast.

im currently running 600x4 535W ac plus 2-3 pc's at any one time (400-600W/each) sometiems my central AC...aswell
alot of wattages for my lil one bdroom.

no probs.
then again ive got no gas, its all electric. everyone has high bills.

some local power companies co-op w/johney law and alot dont.
SCE is on the stock exchange, there here to make money!
in san diego(Ca, usa) the local power company works w/leo to turn people in.
(SDP i think?)
just some of the problems in telling someone 'yea you can do that'

its all about situation.

it helps to pay your bill.

i actualy pay more then my bill. if i tuirned off service edison would owe me like 130$!

There are people in this forum who have 10,000 watts in a 3 bdrm house and use 5,000 kw hours each month. Just pay your bill on time. It might be suspicious if you have been using 1500 kw and suddenly you are using 4,000 kw hours.

San Diego has announced plans to start putting special meters on homes that will allow them to read electrical usage at any time and will allow them to shut down some of your electrical usage in times of need. That scares me as it could screw up a good crop and could provide evidence that you are using way too much.

In many states now, there are homes that have 8-12 people living there. Many Mexican homes have extended families living there, just as they do in Mexico. It depends a lot on what your area is like as to what is normal usage and what will set off flags.

if your in frisco or oakland i would check the laws and go as big as you feel i would be more concerned with the smell than the power consumption, also if you do go big, take into account what your service is i think there is houses
built in the 30s that have as low as 40 amps coming in,

thanks guys for all the responses, acually its a condo im moving into 1 bed room 900sqft.

i have a nice big walk in closet which is perfect fit for 4x600. You guys think i should just set it up for 3x600 or 2x600?

i'm still a little fuzzy on how many watts a 1 bed room appartment/condo midwest uses in a month minus the grow opp.

I'll have a buddy of mine living with me cause it's more like a 2 bedroom but we'll make it a point to conserve on energy. Another noob question but is there any type of amp device that increases the output of a wall socket so i could hook my 3 pc's, 5 monitors, tv, ect so it wouldn't show up on bill as much?

My house is just over 900 sq ft,I average about 110 kwh per day.Thats with 3 1K's running 12 hours 24/7 along with a 12000 btu window AC and 45 pint dehumid. In veg its a 1K MH and an 800 watt combo running 18/6 or 16/8 averaging probably 20 days a month.two 4 ft 4 lamp tube flo's normally run 18/6 24/7.Elec bill averages 375 dollars at approx 10 cents a KWH

KEEP in mind that you CAN lessen your usage ELSEWHERE... putting in compact fluro's where you have regular light bulbs.. TURN YOUR STUFF OFF (computer included) when NOT in use... USE some common sense... When I started growing I went from ZERO lights to 2 400's with a very MINIMAL increase in power... you will amaze yourself with howmuch you can save.

OUCH... ya gots some HIGH power there... less than 6c here (snick..snick) noticed NO difference when I went from the 2 400's to a 1K... also have 8 banks of 4' fluro's for a total of 320w for veg.. moms.. etc. total power NEVER tops a C note..

I dont know where you live but 10 cents is cheap in the U.S,real cheap.

I don't even want to talk to you bastards about power costs. San Diego is about 16 cents and that is cheap for California, except for the very far northern section next to Oregon.

I've never heard of 6 cent electricity in the U.S,gonna solve the mystery?I promise if you state your state you won't be in a state of danger. You may be in a state of confusion though.I pay 6 cents a kWh for fuel charge, and an additional 4 cents an hour for energy charge. Are you sure you're getting the entire picture?I really thought 10 cents a KWH was about the cheapest US rate..So....Whats your address...lol

My best friends in the neighborhood just let me know the meter reader is on the prowl,if you run high wattage shut down so your meter wheel isn't spinning like a frisbee on crack!

Then ten minutes later you're back in business and you done fooled the lectric guy!If you're lucky like me,your previous bill will have the next read date on it.Take advantage of every little thing any way you can to stay undercover..Now its off to the propane station, its a rough life but somebody's gotta live it lol!
