If I wanted to make sure I get the pheno I like, how many FEM seeds should I buy?
Like if I wanted to get Runtz Muffin, how many beans will I have to pop before I get my 29% thc pheno?

How many seeds to find a certain pheno of an unstabilized polyhybrid of ten different strains?

As many as you can grow.

So it’s just like regular seeds. I remember back in 02 when I got my Sugar Shack I got the pheno on the cover in my first pack of seeds. I just hope Barney’s Farms got their Runtz Muffin down. I guess Il get a 3 pack(fem) and go from there.

its a simple equation .............the more females you have to select from,... the better your keeper will be ..... The keeper from 20 fem seeds will almost certainly be better than the keeper from a 3 pack ....good luck bro

I am running two Barney's Farm Acapulco Gold right now. They are twins. Don't know how stable their other gear is.

Depends how stable the strain is. Some breeders (like ACE) will provide detailed info about their breeding process and the degree of stabilisation, most seed houses leave you guessing. You dont know if what they are selling is an unstabilised poly-hybrid, or an inbred line of many generations. I expect that most fem seeds of well known strains are made with two elite clones of the same strain, and will likely be more uniform than regular seeds. But with regulars you might get more interesting outlier phenos... Unless you've got good info from the breeder, whatever you are growing, it's a good idea to grow lots. Really over-simplified example - if there is a trait that depends on the recombination a recessive gene, then you are only going to see that come up on average 1 in 4. And if you are growing regs, then half of those will be males. So popping two packs is better than one.

Damn that’s really good to hear Flylowgethigh. I’m just about ready to get a 3 pack of their Runtz Muffin.
And Thanks Aliceklar for putting it in a way that I can almost grasp. Breading is fascinating. I think I’m gonna go with a 3 pack to start with and see if I hit it, and after what Flylowgethigh said about their Acapulco Gold I feel pretty good about it.
Well now all I gotta get is my ph up and down and Il be ready for seeds.
Thanks for all the advice!

I have run Barney's Pink Kush twice - 2 seeds and then 1 in another grow. Very consistent. Also their Ayahuasca outdoors - 2 nearly identical plants. And their Dr. Grinspoon, which was a monster even if it wasn't the pearl pheno which now seems to be gone. These were all older Barney's breeds - along with the Acapulco Gold. I can't comment on the newer breeds.

I popped 2 Gorilla Zkittlez out of a 5 pack a while back. They're were not completely the same but they were really close. I'd say both looked better than their package picture. I enjoyed both and made seeds with both.
