I keep a lawyer on retainer always, but not for traffic stops. I keep a lawyer on retainer for my business and I guess I could call him if needed, but telling the police on a traffic stop "let me call my lawyer" is going to raise more than a few eyebrows.

and the bling... i did that once.... just because it was someone elses car and blah blah. after they planted something(i knwo what i have on me at all times, for taht exact reason, and i know that wasn't on me, as i t ahd the ID of a project i've never even been to) i asked for my phone back to call my lawyer, they said no, i asked if i could at least record, they said no, i walked over to the cop car, grabbed my phone, and started dialing.

that's when he pulled out his gun, hit me on the ribs with the butt, and when i was grabbing my side laying on the hood of his car, he broke the phone on my face.

hence my remark about scars in a previous post in this thread i believe.

if i say i'm going to call before i get out fo the car, there's relaly not much he can do in the way of abuse without risking injury to himself or risking having charges brought agaisnt him afterwards for excessive force(some cops shoot to center mass if you attempt to escape).

i may not knw how to be anonymous, i realize that, but i knwo how to stay out of a box, either 10 by 10 or 2 by 6

oh, and the three poitns at the end: no big quantities, no more, and this is all past shit. right now i still get stopped, casue they still know me, hell, now i also have the public shit to tdeal with, but i'm clean most of the time, and if i'm carrying to a party or whatever, it's in a smelly bag in a safe(as long as they don't risk breaking my property) spot.

oooh... soemthing i KNOW everyone can use: keep your car clean and properly maintained... they won't break a nice car searching it, but they won't hesitate to rip a seat a lil bit if it's already messed up. at least in my experience.

i shoud add... compared o bloods crips and mmost latino gagns active on the mainland.. we're pretty tame. we don't do massacres. when i saw we... i don' mean a specific group, i mean my locale in general. i say this because of the reference to ms-13...

damn... that was a really harsh comparison :p

I just saw a show on MS-13 on the National Geographic channel. Looked pretty intense, I'm glad there's none of that shit around my area.

btw.. just re read my first post.... and i do specify that i only call my lawyer on a cop when i know tye're up to something....

this whole thread could have been kept a lot shorter and neater if you guys had read that lil part, hahahahaha.

I can't tell you how many searches my lawyer has gotten me out of. Just saying you're going to call your lawyer before you exit the car works like a charm(of course, when you know they are just fishing for an excuse, otherwise.. it's better just to get out of the car and lock it, obviously). Oh, and always say MY lawyer... use the cops own intimidation game on them. If you say a lawyer it sounds like you're scared. If you say MY lawyer, it sounds like you're prepared and battle hardened.
It's also good to know the name of a very prominent lawyer. I'm talking police chief has a picture of him on the wall to throw darts at hated. I'm talking OJ confessed on the stand and he still got him free then told him to do an R Kelly just to get him off the pedophile charges too hated. Just pretending he's your lawyer may work too if you're broke like me.

Luckily my lawyer is a cool guy, since he's a professor too, and he let's me just keep building a tab which i pay back in services and the occasional bag.

Oh, this is really important in my opinion: MAKE SURE YOU AND YOUR LAWYER GET ALONG AND S/HE AT LEAST RESPECTS YOUR POSITION AND YOUR VIEWS.

It's against the law to be a mediocre attorney(i do believe in some jurisdiction you can be put in jail, and i don't mean sanctions, i mean trial, and obviously, you are disbarred) but so many fing pricks know they'll get paid whether they adequately represent you or not and they know you don'tknow squat about law.

My lawyer is actually making sure I understand all he does(not only because i want to be a lawyer) but also so I can just represent myself. Luckily, he's never even had to file a motion on my behalf, just talk on the phone with a cop standing at my window
Damn, i just realized i basically wrote a whole thread about my appreciation for my lawyer. Show your attorney some love... they're not all stuffy asswipes.

Wasn't Lothar a lawyer? I got a lawyer because of him and his threads, that's for sure.

I think if you read the bolded sections you will see what people were commenting about. I would expect to hear them from some young kid.

What might have made the thread shorter and more believable would be if you would have simply asked who has a Lawyer on retainer, instead of trying to make it look like intimidating cops will help someone. All thats going to accomplish is getting drugs planted in your vehicle if they don't find something.....

big ups on that, thank you for making this a reminder, its always good to know exactly what you can do when shit goes down...its fucking incredible but you can get away with a lot of shit when you smile and act rich in america
