How many KW/Day usage is acceptable and how many is drawing attention?

Thanks mistress,

The real issue here in Canada is what apartment blower mentioned, its real scary,

If your daily usage is more than 93KW/H per day, they can give you a 24 hour notice to do a fire/electrical safety inspection at your premises.

EFSI 93
Electrical Fire Safety Inspection

So add up all the legit power usages which may be about 30-40KW/H per day for a lived in up to date house with all the bells and whistles then add on top, your hobby power usage, OMG, easy to exceed and asking for a knock on the door.

Their tactics are working.
Better to be safe than sorry is a good philosophy in some cases
They will try to seize your home if you own it.

What kind of perfectly ordinary equipment could you install that would use over that kind of power? You know, something you could turn off AFTER they come and inspect? Set up your grow after that and turn off whatever equipment it was.

Hell, with the right lease, you could probably return the junk when you're done. :nanana:

Would definitely take a lot of extra work though. Any chance they'd come back again??

I have a hard time believing there sending fire chiefs over to every house that is using more then 93 kw/hr a day, its so easy to use that much power doing legit things.

wait ... is that right?

93 kw/h per day equal to 3875w run 24/7.....

93 kw/h / 24 hrs = 3.875 kw

3.875 kw = 3875 watts

i cant understand the rest of your post but what i posted is the amount of watts you can run total 24 hrs a day in the 93 kw/h zone

I spotted that error too. Makes a huge difference.

granted, wrong #, but taken out of context w/ remainder of post. correction made. here+in original post...

'9300' is actually 93,000 total watts used per day, or an average of 3875 watts operating 24/7.

meant to convey that the avg hourly consumption is ~3875 watts, or basically enough energy to heat/cool an avg home, for 24 hours... the total consumption for the day (avg usage) being 93kw hr/day.

the rest of the math following that error is correct.

example:
a 1k running for 12 hours = 1,000*12=12,000, or 12 kilowatt hours

a 400 running 18 hours = 400*18=7,200, or 7.2 kilowatt hours

a 1k minimum support system for fans, ac, etc. = 1,000*24=24,000, or 24 kilowatt hours

so, a moderately sized garden, consisting of a 1k flower room, a 400 watt veg room, and 1k for fans, ac, etc., may go like this,

12+7.2+24=43.2 kilowatt hours per day dedicated to a 1k-flower-room + 400 watt veg room indoor garden.

hope this helps. enjoy your garden!

if you insist...:spank: ...the pleasure is all mines/slight sting of submission to the dom-goddes, all yours...:D

enjoy your garden!

Whips/male-sub...not my thing...but some rope and a little confinement play with a Gal...Mmmm, hot.

Guess why the news is so quiet regarding this bylaw? So few charges if any. And another you will never hear in the news is how many of these "inspections" are on 100% legit residences where the residents get totally pissed and complain. Privacy rights.
It was a decent idea that has failed. So I think they are trying to just softly back pedal and hope it'll go away...

Well, I was looking for some other info and came across this post... this got me curious...
I live in one of the hottest states in the country... We're renting and the house was built almost 40 years ago. Several kids in the house house that have NO idea that the little switches on the wall can be pushed down as well as up!:drum:
Anyway, with the combination of the old house, kids, pool, etc, I was curious as to how many KWh's I was using, so I went and checked the bills over the past few months on the power companies website.
HOLY SHIT!! In July, I broke 200KWh's... pretty much everyday since then it's been over 150KWh's... and I'm NOT growing anything.
Pool and the AC in a really hot climate are definitely killers, but add in the inefficiency of the house with kids, and it's a recipe for a money shredder!!

Just thought I'd throw this up here... I know in Canada, the temps don't get anywhere near what they are in the southwest, but damn... 93KW seems stupid.
