How many gallons are in a bale of Pro-Mix?

We figured this out years ago,we actually measured the soil once broken up and i think it was 46 gallons

1 cubic foot = 7.48051945 US gallons

1 US gallon = 0.133680556 cubic feet

Pro-Mix bale is 3.8 c.f. so that would be 28.424 gallons.

In my personal experience when we were using compressed 3.8 bales, it worked out to approx. 6 cubic ft. They don't actually double. This was over a 15 years ago when we first starting mixing soils, but I would assume it is still the same based on what others are sharing.
