i have been making some changes in my grow and was calculating how many dollars does it cost me to grow an ounce of weed....

In my case after some changes to my grow Im estimating my cost of electric will fall under 10 bucks.....

I think thats pretty good.....

Anyone know their numbers???

Impossible to calculate as every person here most likely pays a different price per kWh. Now factor in most of the electric bill is distribution charges etc.. now way to really calculate this.

One thing I can say is an ounce of indoor grown n CA will cost significantly more then an ounce grown in like North Dakota.

It depends on how efficient of a grower you are combined with hydro prices.

I.e. If two growers lived beside each other and one produces twice as
much under the same Kilowatt used then he pays 1/2 as much for per ounce.

I realize that different places have different costs per kwh....

This question actually factors in where is the best place to grow coupled with skill..

ANd no I dont think its at all impossible to calculate..... easy in fact...

HOw much is your average electric bill..... divided by the number of ounces you average in a month......

In my case..... my electric averages about 300 $

and I expect to average 40 to 45 oz per month.....

Im a caregiver in michigan and I run things like a business...

I want to know how much my costs are as well as how much I get from patients.....

I believe because I use jacks fertilizers.......my total cost to produce an oz is still under 10 bucks

That is 10 bucks plus my blood sweat and tears....

Well this only really works if the only electricity in the house is being used for the grow. Unless someone has gone thru the trouble of doing a full load calculation for all of their grow related equipment.

If your electric bill is a combined total of all electricity used in the house its not going to be accurate.

rather cheap in my greenhouse but inside I actually try not and think about it...being as tier 3 is almost 40 cents I can guarantee its more than you .....yeehaw and being as I tend to grow quality over quantity and strains that tend to yield less even more so

In my case my normal usage is in there

but i can easily estimate normal usage

Im not really looking for dead on accuracy.....

mine is 8..9 ... 10 bucks max

It depends on how much I push it, which I don't.

I go for variety & quality (THC), and appreciate quantity when a plant goes into 'Steroid' mode.

Under a 600 watt ... 12 hours a day ... 7.2 kwhr per day.

x 60 days of 12/12 ~ 420 kilowatt hours.

If my electrical use is minimal, 10 cents a kilowatt hours.

When I'm growing, I go into another 'cost range' or something ... 20 cents a kilowatt hour.

Then one could ask - Marginal cost or average cost ?

Anyway, call it 400 kwhr x .2 $ ... that be $80 worth of electricity.

If you can use the 600 watt to produce a meter square, or maybe 3 foot by 4 foot ... that could be 12 ounces, it could be 18 ounces.

To make the math easy, call it 16 ounces.

so $5 an ounce if you're paying 20 cents a kwhr.

we have an answer :woohoo:

didn't check my math yet though

should be less under LED's. What's the LED equivalent of a 600 watt HPS ?

We have an answer....but you dont include veg time.... only flower....

right???

Your calcs do illustrate that most people when talking about gpw...only talk flower......

How much you spent in veg has an impact on flowering.....

My number....8...9 ....max 10 bucks includes veg and flower......

I pay around 8.5 cents a kilowatt and for a single grow in my cabinet for Veg (4 WEEKS) and Bloom (8 WEEKS) I will spend about $100 for electricity (lights, fans, air pump) and get between 8 oz up to 16 oz depends on the strain and if I have grow that stains a few time to get it dialed in.
So the cost varies between $12.5 to $6.25 per ounce plus the cost of nutes, RO water and pest sprays I will spend around $200 per grow. Its the best investment I have made in my life.

I have a Kill-a-watt device in my cabinet that tracks my total cabinet usage

What size light do you use?A 1K light uses about $61.2 a month.

Use calculation 1000w x12hrs x 30days x .17 est price per kWh = 61200 / 1000 = $61.20

I did the math on one of my grows one time and it came out to five cents a gram. I recicled my soild then and only added blood meal and gave the plants teas. I was cloning a granddaddy purp x haze at that time. (monster yields) I did that for 3 runs and was pulling almost 2.5 lbs a pop.

I did 5 LBs outdoor for $15 back in2014! Maybe cheaper this year..... $0 invested and 32 females out!
