How Long Before Pollen Drop

Nice one for doing the pics(very smart)

Mmm i am hoping for a male out of some seeds i have planted(Sexing 4 afghani's at mo(Well sexed two(females)Not sure on other two yet))
But as say hoping for one male(Also got some AK 48 and Cali O growing(Again hoping for a male of each)

I was planning then(REad a good post about it a while back)
The guy was taking some cuttings off the male(i guess with sacks on)
Then he was rooting them in water, and over the coming weeks he was getting the pollen to drop.
I like this so will deff do somit like this(tho it sounds to easy)*smiles*
I also read Doc leaf that they will still drop pollen once cut and before they totally die?(I am guessing once there dead there not going to drop no more?)

Again i am guessing for this method(as oppoesed to getting them rooted)Is they would need to of Allready dropped(Or very close to dropping)A load?

Also then*grins*
I just plan on Pollenating a few colas out of the plant(got a good idea of how i will do this(WIll make a cone out of newspaper to control things))
(How long will it be good for if left un gathered?)

Also when is the best time to apply the pollen to the selected cola's?
I would guess at least around halfway thru flower?

And lastly(for now)
I think i read also that after say a hour or two any pollen that goes airbourne will be no threat to other cola's?(That may answer my earlier question of how long it can be left ungathered)

Anyway thanks in advance,Sorry for my haphazzard way of asking(I should just right 1.2.3.4 so on with my questions)*SmielS*

Any sorry for hijacking...

ALL POSITIVE input, intelligent questions/comments are strongly incouraged!!!

I just kinda wished I'd pick my other male for pollen, but I had no way of knowing if maybe that was a male with SLOW maturation. DAMN REZ and his 2 males in a pack of 10 that all germed! (Smiles box gone??)

UPDATE: (from 5 mins ago)

About half of my pods have opened and dropped pollen. But I only have about enough pollen to sniff a line and not one of those "gagger Lines" we did back in the day....
Oh....the subject....
Is it cool to just leave the pollen there (in a climate controled room) for a couple more days??
I want atleast a dime bag of the powder

they act just like any other flower. Once cut and placed into a glass of water, the male flowers will continue to release pollen (so long as pollen has previously been released by the stem/flower).

between 30-40 days (approx.) depending on strain.

Pollen stays viable for several days (perhaps weeks if conditions are cool and dry).

mist plants with water after pollenation to reduce spread of unwanted pollen to other female flowers.

note: some research suggests that the ratio of male:female leans more towards the males (in progeny) the older the pollen is from source.

try to use fresh pollen from healthy viable plants :D

hope this helps

Ahh cool cant wait to try(just got to hope for a male of each)

Mmm also u mention Give them a spray after(good tip)
So should i then apply my pollen just before lights out?(my fans be off then aswell)

Also i seem to remeber in another thread i read about mixing the pollen with Plain flour(tho i belive this for when u plan on freezing some pollen?)

Apart from a few obvious reasons for doing this
Is it important to do?

if possible remove the male and female plant and pollenate in a seperate room. then mist off. then next day place female back into flower room.

if possible use fresh pollen that has only just been released by male flowers

in nature, pollen is viable for 1-14 days and deteriorates when damp/wet

hope this helps,
