How Long Before Pollen Drop

Big Deal

Member
Aprox. How long after preflowering (12/12 immediatly first sign of sex) before the pods open. Strains are SD IBL(male that matured WAY earlier then the rest) and Grape Krush (1 if 3 males in pack of 10, all germed :badday:)

I ask because security issues getting tight (Rented house on "the market") and I don't want plants sitting in my living room longer than needed!

It'll be right around the same time it releases. It can be tricky to time it right. I had pollen pop just two weeks into flower last runaround, only about 7 days after I noticed real sex on them.

heres a few shots of a male SourHaze that im harvestin pollen off of. from the time these plants went to flower 2wks to the day had a male already droppin pollen, the males im harvestin from, one is droppin good after 3 weeks flower, the other one couple more days and hell be goin good, i culled the fastest males, and the longest males.

males stay in flower till i see the nuts drop, as they point downward. at that point i pull um, and place in any light, and they continue to drop pollen even with a veg light schedule. i place my males by a window, and no matter what the sunrise sunset time is, they continue to make pollen.

if you look close in the second pic, you can see a male flower thats already opened and dropped its load. look to the top left, and you can see one nice and open, and right in the center there.

if you notice, as the nut hangs down, right before it opens it swells first then opens. so even when the first start to point down, theres sometime before they open. not much though,LOL

Sweet!! Thanx for the replys!! Currently my SD IBL is 3 weeks into flower...about 20 or so flowers have dropped, but no real pollen yet. isn't the pollen stored the sacs or flowers?? I figered I would be sitting like Scare Face by now

The male i've been gathering pollen from if you look at the bottom of the flower and it's open just a bit you can pop the flower off at that point and open it up and get the pollen out, and from what I've noticed anywhere from 3-24 hour's after that the flower is going to pop open and it will be dropping the pollen on it's own.

the morrow is D-day,, note the epidermis on each flower. 5-7day was a good guess for outdoor (even if I do say so my self),,, indoor male-flowering times tend to be quicker  ...pon ya learn ya grow, huh?

hej hej all
heja pike ... you select for the same traits as i do , just dont take the fastest , the same with the slowest of the bunch , just be carefull to stay right in the middle.
My VB99 stud looks much like your sour haze , from habitus and onset of biomass (flowers) , for me its sure that my boy is NO autoflowerer as i got him now more than 60 !!!! weeks in veg ;) cant remeber where i read this , that a male which grows donkey dick-like flower clusters are autoflowerers ... ? , maybe someone who read the same thing could give a statement :chin:

lol fcuk my rechargeable batt from my cam wont recharge ... :( i´m out for a new one i´ll edit this when i´m back sry m8´s .

*k i´m back , sorry for this unwanted break , cant wait to get a D50 or a Eos 350D into my hands....

here´s the pix of the male , he´s anywhere between 2 -3 weeks in flowering and i think prolly in the next week some of the sacks will split open and i can start to collect it ..

have fun & stay safe

Note: at this stage male plants can be culled and the pollen still harvested.
just place the drying flowers over a bit of clean card.

I n I don't re-veg females, so we couldn't really say.
Anything that screws with the mindset/metabolism of the erb runs risk of inhereting abnormal traits/ king-queen parts.

we'd prefer to cut males back hard,,, so they produce new flowers several weeks later, when needed... the first thing we do with male plants is bend or top the main stem :canabis:
