I slowandeasy , im trying this right now , whit 4 clones , canna coco, rhizo, whit a dome in white plastic cup , a t5 54w at 2feet , rootech clonning gel, a little scratch 1 inch , i hope it will roots . pics tomorrow

Keep your temps around 80 and high humidity for the first few days atleast. You will get roots no problem. Go easy with the Root Tech gel, it is strong stuff. Good luck!!

Do not bottom feed unless they dry out, keep the stem tight to the Coco. Once you get roots and they need to be watered, then you can bottom feed to promote the roots to stretch downward. Just keep damp, not soaked. Keeping too moist will delay the whole process. With your temps and humidity they will not need moisture until after you get roots. Too much water before rooting can cause stem rot...moist not wet and you will be fine. Good luck.

Definitely pay attention to moisture level. All too easy to overwater and get stem rot like slowandeasy said. Took me several trials to get it down pat.

The key is Temp + Humidity + Leave alone for the first 48 hours. You will get it.

I just took some clones two days ago. I thought I was prepared, but the new rubbermaid container I am using didn't hold the RH well. Also, its very cold right now and I had an issue of either too much heat or too little. I did make a bunch of adjustments the first 24 hours and finally got it stable. I am pretty sure I will get roots, but I am betting that these will be delayed about a week to root because of all the issues in the first 24 hours.

I am putting together a dedicated chamber that I can control temps better. Also, the rubbermaid container I am using, I am going to put a gasket on the lid so that it seals up tight for next time.

Thats how it goes. A little stumbling wont bring fast roots, so I expect them late.

Roots popped yesterday. A few more this morning. 12 days to root. This is a perfect example of how critical those first 48 hours are. Having too low RH, unstable heat caused the rooting to take TWICE as long. Still got them, but 12 days isn't great. Either way, got the roots and plenty of people would be happy with 12 days. The key thing is heat and RH are so much more critical then most people think.

Why ow why can't we get a cloning & mothering forum. I swear it would be so useful. I have suggested it on the appropriate place.

Anyone else agree here?

I agree 100 percent, if your temps and humidity are stable and in range you will get roots in 6-7 days everytime. I have a stable cloning cab, so it is never an issue.

Also, is there a way to raise the temps in just the cloning chamber/room without having to heat the entire room? I have a heat pad and it doesn't seem to be doing the trick.

I am in the same situation. I did create a little chamber. The T5 light doesn't heat it enough. I use a heat pad. I found those heat controllers for the heat pads suck and don't work (if anyone ever finds one that does please let me know!).

What I do is have a few pieces of cardboard to shim under the rubbermaid, between the rubbermaid and the heat pad. It works, but it can suck if your ambient swings greatly. This is why I got a little cab to put everything in. Things are much more stable.

I still rather have a temp controller that works though.

Yeah I think my clones are too moist. They're wilting... getting those brown splothes on the leaves. I know in a few days they'll reduce to a pile of mushy plant matter. Who knew cloning would be so finicky.

I'm using one of those temp controlled mats as well. It's set to 80, are you guys finding it runs hot or cold?

My temp controller for my heating pad works flawlessly! I just stick the probe to the side of my rubbermaid wall and keep the heating pad in the rubbermaid. I set mine to 81 F, and it is always within a degree either way.

I do not suggest putting the plants directly under the mat. It has hot and cold spots. I found that out last winter, so I just use it to heat the whole clone cab.

If your clones are wilting your humidity could be too low, light is too strong, or your stems are not packed tightly. How long have they been in cups? How moist is your Coco? If you are that concerned, take the stem out of the Coco and do a visual inspection. If you need any advice, I will help you get it right. Good luck!!

What if your temps are at like 60, will they still root?

You are wasting your time if your temps are that low!! If they even root it would take forever. What type of clone chamber do you have? Turn off all fans and get a temp controller for your heating pad. Keep your humidity high and temps around 80. Until you get your clone area close to those numbers....you will not have very good luck cloning no matter what method you use. Good luck

I think my coco was too moist and not packed enough. I also forgot to place a paper towel so there were directly below a t5HO. They don't look horrible after second glance. The ones in the "walmart" cloner aren't looking good though.

Here is what you do. Take a small cup, poke some holes in the bottom. Fill with Canna Coco, and water to run off with some weak nute solution. Press down on the coco and squeeze the excess moisture out. Keep doing that until barely any water comes out of the holes. This will pack your coco in your cup, and get the correct moisture level. Now, make a hole down to the bottom of the cup. Soak and Gel your clone, insert into hole, and pack the stem nice and tight. Stick it in your clone chamber with 80 F and HI humidity. You will not fail if you do just like this, I promise.

Coco holds a lot of moisture, just keep the stem tight and your environment good. Too much moisture slows the whole process down. How long has it been? Do you have the Cups of Coco sitting water like the Walmart cloner does? What do the clones look like on top?

Please do share your heater controller brand/model. I need one of these immediately.
