In soil I use powdered dolomite lime in my soil mix(1-2 tbls per gallon depending on soil acidity) and General Hydroponics Ph test kit for water and nute adjustment. The kit comes with PH up,down and indicator,it's all you need.
american,, thanks man,,could you please check my thread in the infirmary,,,,that says sick plants,,,,please help (pics are there) and please give your what i should do opinion as opposed to blackvelvets ?
1st invest in a ph meter hanna makes a nice non waterproof1 for 50$ add any ferts to water then adjust PH, i use mad farmer get down. my water right from the tap is PH 7.2 with no ferts i need 1/4tsp get down and 3 eye dropper squirts. when i add the ferts i use i only need 3 eye dropper squirts, be careful if you add dolimite lime into the soil i wouldnt use calmag+ you'll OD your plants. most soil's are PH ballanced between 5.5-6.5 so when soil is fresh no dolimite lime is needed i use fox farm ocean forrest soil very good investment !!. i adjust my waters PH with and with out ferts to PH 6.5 untill last 2 wks of flower i drop to PH 6.3, for soil PH range of 6.0-6.5 is acceptable anything lower then 6.0 in soil your bound for problems and ive found anything higher then 6.8 will lead to problems. most plant problems start off with improper PH values then move onto different nute defficiencs. if you add dolimitelime to your soil use 1teaspoon DL per gal soil 5gal soil=5tsp lime ive added it to soil surface then gently watered it in. it will take 1-3 waterings for the plant to come around and start shaping up.
heres another hint and or tip
when i fert i add nutes only every other watering {1 water plain tap ph adjusted, then next is with nutes added}. i water like this because i dont wish for the salts to build up in the soil if you fert every watering you run a good chance of this happening.
when i water i use the lift method
when i water i water just untill drainage is achieved this is improtant when the plant has stopped draining i lift it. this is my plants full approx watered weight, every day i lift plant you'll notice it get lighter everyday when it feels light and almost compleatly dry i water again. when i transplant after the 1st wk im watering every toherday ive never been rootbound ive flowered in 2 liter soda bottles to 6 gal square pots
maj. ph,,,thanks man,i sure appreciate it ! i just got some fox farm of soil.my plan is to flush the bad soil and use fox farm tiger bloom for the ones already in flower.new ones ill just start in that soil then after i mo,start using the tiger bloom, when i 12/12 them. this should fix me ,,,,,dont ya think? did you check out the pics?
ye the foxfarm ocan forest...great stuff.I use it as well on EVERYTHING.
Outdoor/indoor.Dolomite lime is great stuff.....it bringd your ph back towards 7.0 if its acid or alkaline. So it cant hurt if you dont add too much.I also like to use kelp based fertilizers especialy on my outdoor. The kelp catalyzes salts and provides micros. Also I sware it seems to be a ph buffer.I use Maxsea, maybe theres another ph buffer in the maxsea...but all i know Is I use it as medicine on sick plants.
Good luck..... Dj Zion-I
