What I really want to know here is how do you respond to just a particular sentence from someone rather than respond to their entire post?

I use the quote tags. [highlight][QUOTE] [/QUOTE][/highlight]

So:
[highlight][QUOTE]And the what I'm quoting goes here.[/QUOTE][/highlight]

Ah OK I thought it must have something to do with the quotes on the bottom right of the screen. What are those for? Don't seem to do anything when I push it.

If you click the quote button at the bottom of a persons post it should take you to Reply to Thread with their post already quoted

Multi quote is what that is.
Say you wanna quote 3 posts to reply to. Hit that on the first two, then the regular quote on the last one and they will all come up

Well it depends on what is being discussed really.

Like now: I am responding to just the one part of your post and ignoring the rest cause I don't wanna respond to the other parts.

Of course posts like yours can be more difficult since it is merely one sentence, but with a little practice replying to posts you can isolate particulars which strike your interest that makes it easy to respond.

In fact some sentences are so perfectly structured that your responses will sometimes write themselves.

I think for me the key element to recognizing exactly "which" part or parts of a particular post to respond to is the "." (period) because in most instances the "period" is used immediately following a statement. Once a post progresses to the point of using a "period" I can usually isolate a statement to respond to simply by copy/pasting that portion immediately preceding the period.

Another feature that is used ALOT here at ICM is the "?" or "question mark"... This is used in the event that the OP (Original Poster) is inquiring or seeking information.
You will find that these "?" are quite popular also because ICM is extremely fortunate to have so many members who know literally "everything", but that's a topic I'm saving for another thread.

Hope this helps...:blowbubbles:
