How Coca Cola Affects Your Body In 60 Minutes

First 10 minutes
10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don't immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavour, allowing you to keep it down.

20 minutes in
Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)

40 minutes in

Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.

45 minutes in
Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centres of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.

60 minutes in
The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.

After 60 minutes

The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.

As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

I have always found its best to cut those toxic effects by mixing in the same volume of (raw) alcohol, bourbon, whiskey, even vodka works well...?

Warren Buffet drinks 5 a day. I think he is around 90.

I really slowed down on the soda and chug water instead. Still feel the need for a little soda but no chugging.

Sugar has a powerful effect on the body, natch.

Liquor is sugar, too.

Imagine those poor bastards who drink coke like water all day.

Health care industry loves it, lol.

WOW 10 teaspoons!!! That's crazy. I cut soda out years ago but still enjoy a couple can's a month. I bought those little 7 oz'ers. I'd like to see a chart for diet soda. That stuff can also be pretty nasty on the body.

Whoever wrote this is a fan of hyperbole. Coke would make me puke if it didn't have phosphoric acid? What? I don't vomit when I taste much sweeter things like honey. No, a can of coke doesn't stimulate the pleasure centers in my brain like heroin. Drinking coke is nothing at all like going to a rave.

I've cut back over the years, but I still have a can every once in a while. One can isn't bad for you.

Coca Cola 140 calories 39 grams of carbs

2 medium apples 144 calories 40 grams of carbs

The carbs are sugar.

Fresh fruit is a fast acting sugar just like Coca-Cola.

This will be like chemical and organic fertilizers debate. Plants don't care. Your body doesn't know the difference between fast acting sugars in coke and table sugar or fruit and honey.

discuss......

For calories that is true but apples have fiber and other stuff that blocks the sugar from spiking your blood sugar real fast. Soda is like mainlining the sugar.

I just had a couple sips of soda btw.:) I just do not chug it and limit the amount per day.

As to Buffet looking like he is 900 years old, well take a look at your self at 84 and see if you look any better.
