Hostels and The Noon

Bustin' my Amsterdam cherry this fall for the CC. Just booked the airline today.

Need a little advice. What's the CMEMORYEST/cleanest/safest private room hostel/hotel near all the festivities?

Also...

I've wanted to try the blueberry at the noon since I first read about it in HT about a decade or so back. Any smoke reports / recommendations?

dont bother with the noon its not blueberry not even worth goin i say its 1 of the worst shops in amsterdam they had 4 the cup but they dont have it now lol peace

potofgold U R SOOOO WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!The noon is the shit!!!!They're BB is awsome the best BB out their hands down.Bought BB seeds from them the year they won the cup,00.SPECTACULAR!!!!!Dont think they still sell them but it would be worth your time to visit them.Robert Kemp was the owner and is a cool kat with a kick ass NON COMMERCAL shop.BTW, they get fresh BB in every day some batches better than others,try the white mellon its yummy.

potofgold your not even close... i love this shop!! one of the best herbs i had on my last trip in february.. and the prices are awesome..

only 23euro for 4 grams of blueberry!!

the shop is pretty local, but it is nice and clean.

Definetely worth a visit or two...

I was in adam around new year, and the noon had the best weed in town ( blueberry haze, diesel and kali mist were fantastic)...

Two weeks ago i visited mellow yellow (same menu as noon) and the weed was ok but nothing special... it's suprising how the quality differs...

I fifth the motion. THe Blueberry haze was with one exception, the best indica in AMS last Nov. The Blueberry was very close, and a great deal.

I always hit the Noon first or second, but years ago, the BB was not so great. In the past 3 years it has been very dank, stony, and not purple. (So watttt..!).

Maybe not the best place to hang out, but not bad. A great grab-n-go-after-a-bowlful sorta place.

I think the BB was 4 gs for 23E's....

The Bulldog is the cleanest hostel that I've seen, but it's by no means the cheapest. I would highly reccommend booking a room ASAP in a good hostel especially for the CC. All the good rooms get booked early and then you'll be stuck in a shitty hostel. The worst hostel I stayed at in all of Europe was in Amsterdam, it was the only thing we could find because we didn't book a room in advance. I can't remember the name of the bad hostel but it's just up the street from the Dolphins coffeeshop. The windows in the dorm room were screwed shut; it was the middle of summer and the temperature in the room was in the high 80s low 90s; and the humidity in there was 100% from all the sweating bodies. Imagne the BO. Absolutely fucking disgusting. Good luck. I'd go back in a heartbeat, though.

I did just now. Many answers.
Overtoom is a street not far from the Noon.
Also, go to Noon after 5pm when they get a fresh batch in.
Google various combinations of hostel, noon coffee shop, flying pig.
Budget hotels may give better response.

Been looking into many different online hostel and hotel sites. Seems about the only private room that I can find for under $80/night is Galerij. (My 420 in Adam thread - forget the author - sorry, but thanks) A lot of the hostels are only group rooms - that's fine, but I like a little more peice of mind - as much fun as a coed dorm sounds (married feller here - no need for drama when I get home). I do like the idea of the commraderie a hostel promotes though with the inn bar and pool tables.

Any other past recollections and price postings would be great!

Been so jazzed about finally going that I decided to get a jump start - bought some a couple Heine's on my way home. Mmmmm...

About $80 a night, small single room with a private balcony.

You can google your hotel name and find lots info like map, location, photos, etc. Don't mean to seem too pushy, but good way to expand the horizon.
Reasonable price.Be happy, no matter how many people may try to second-guess you.Cheaper is not necessarily better, because the sticky carpet , stained bed, sketchy showers start to factor in...rooms are small ("cozy" haha) in Amsterdam. An American-sized room costs, but no worry.
You can catch the trams to the Leidseplein and then short walk to the Noon.

I'm staying at the Hemp Hotel, a small 5-room place, which i believe is full. Not a central location , but I've stayed there many times. Single room is about the same price as yours.
You didn't ask, but the best currency exchange rate is to use a bank debit card at an ATM. Call your bank first and alert them when you will be travelling to Europe. They will flag your account so the fraud dept will not deny you, which can be a hassle to undo. Also, the key pads do not have letters, so know your PIN number. Also check on the daily limit, FYI.

The Heine's are ten times better over there too. You're going to have a damn good time. If I could do it all over again I would spend the $80/night on the private room.

Like everyone says.... A small room in AMS means SMALL. Like a closet, just big enuf for a single bed. The TV is mounted on the wall, so it won;'t get in your 1 foot way..! Money will get you either a nice room, or not, it really depends on what you spend, and if you are willing to locate outside of City Center, which I - like most are not.

IF space is important, even one of the "Single" rooms, Cozy, lol, is sometimes depressing. But, alternatives are costly.

You'll have a ball regardless.

Go get 'em.

I looked at the Hemp Hotel - looked like a pretty cool place, but as you said, they were full. The place I got is drug free. That's ok though. I won't get baked and lay around all day. Tiny yes, but seems like a good spot. Right off Dam Square. Free internet and breakfast. Works for me.

The Heineken brewery is definetly on my list SB - not for too long though. I'll end up piss drunk falling down the stairs in the hotel. That stuff will put a hurtin' on a person.

Small? Yes, very. Looked like a closet with a door at each end. One balcony and one hallway. Maybe 7 or 8 feet wide total. Hope I don't have a claustrophobic moment in there.

I went to the noon during our 420cup trip and it was one of the worst shitholes ive been in they made us buy weed before we could get a cofee the guy behind the counter was a ignorant nasty tit and the blueberry was a pile of shitty somthing else all in all a bad experiance i reccomend giving it a wide berth haha

If you're right off Dam Square, that's great !
Small is ok, 'cause you're just going to pretty much sleep there. It's not easy anymore to find a cannabis smoking-friendly hotel, so you came out ok.
Free internet and breakfast is nice.
You can take a tram to the Brewery, it's still in the Centrum (Central Amsterdam), and near everything, in fact closer in the Centrum than the Hight Times Cup Expo. The Noon is about six blocks away, and you can get a tram #6,7,or 10 if you're too "relaxed" to walk.

I stayed at the hotel doria/pizzeria last time and it was fairly nice, had a very good breakfast and was only 50' form dam square (I could see the war monument from my window), another good one is the hotel terminus which I stayed at in 06, both are cool with smoking in the room.




also amsterdam is small so walking is very easy to do there, in-fact I thought the brewery was far from my hotel and thought it would be a long walk but I smoked a splif and was there in about 20 minutes!
