Hi guys I figured I would ask before I killed my self ..... so back when I was setting up shop my sparky dropped an extra line into the breaker box and ran the rest to the GR well I am expanding and need the extra 20 amps ....

This is what I know the cable is thick and yellow I know it can handle 2 1000s....

and this is what I dont know

When I open up the wire how many wires will I see and what color will they be? Where do I connect them too the breaker and where do I connect them to the cfi's can I use 2 cfi in the same box? What kind of box do I need to get from the big hardware store to put the cfi 's in?

I tried to find something in the stickys or rather the linkorama but failed.... thanks guys for the help!!!! I would call my sparky but im too cheap I guess... he said this would be very easy but seems very complicated...thanx agian:joint:

Call up your sparky and be glad you have one that you can trust with your GR location.

It's a lot cheaper than hospitals and fires.

If you don't understand it, get a pro.

If I had that attitude or cash flow I would not be asking for help 5 grand for a service call isn't cheap.. And I have kids to put through college.. besides you can teach a monkey anything I however am smarter than your avg monkey.... so a little step by step go's a long way!!

Five grand for a service call? Damn - is your electrician a dick or what?

Nobody can answer your questions from the information you've given. You need to strip a little bit of that yellow cable and see what's inside of it.

Ya know, you could kill yourself dicking around in your panel and not knowing what you're doing. How well are your kids going to make it through the rest of their lives without a dad? You should seriously consider getting the receptacles all hooked up in the grow room and then getting an electrician to install the breaker in the panel. That shouldn't cost you more than a hundred or two.

Get books from the library on wiring and study them intently. Then once you are SURE what you're doing, double check everything.

FYI the cable being "thick and yellow" signifies #12 AWG romex, they started color coding recently.#14 has a white jacket and 10 has an orange jacket.Glad you got it worked out although you may find 2 1K fixtures on a 120V 20A circuit could trip the breaker at startup or after extended load. You really should'nt exceed 16A on a 12 wire 20A circuit and most 1K HID's draw a little over 9 amps
