I do crush them anywhere that I see them. It's so frustrating. I kill all that I see, I dunk them for a long time and they look devoid of mites. Then two days later they're just back.
Maybe it just takes time to kill them all. Multiple dunks over a period of a couple weeks. I'm not sure. I'm going to spray them with Neem Oil as soon as it gets here, but as of now, it's just crushing, dunking and hoping.
Things are going pretty good this week! I do believe I have quashed the spider mites once and for all.
I dunked each plant underwater for 5 minutes. Didn't work completely, but helped.
I dunked them for 15 minutes each. Same result.
I sprayed with Neem oil. Same result.
I dunked for 30 minutes each - now I see none. All these procedures were undertaken over the course of about a week or so. I see no more mites. I will be vigilant.
But now, it is time to flower these beauties. They're certainly old enough, and I now have an aeroponic cloner with clones of each plant about to take root. I'm excited to see which of these girls is going to yield the best stuff in 6 weeks time as I want the fastest flowering plant possible with the best results - even if an 8 week plant yields a little more.
They're getting swapped to 12/12 today, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for mites. Once I know they're clear, I'll defoliate underneath the canopy and let 'em fly. I'm VERY happy with my crop from the Silver Lotus, so this is gonna be great!
The plants are a little yellow today from nitrogen deficiency, but I have dosed them with fish poop so they'll be dark green within a couple days.
Hey, guys. Sorry about the late update. Basically, I missed Saturday due to other plans (not a big deal), THEN on Sunday I saw I had spider mites returning from hell. So I dunked each plant underwater with soap for 45 minutes each. This morning, I went downstairs to get photos for the week, and to my dismay I saw that there are still spider mites on the plants. If you read anything online about spider mites drowning in 30-60 seconds, know that it is untrue. That, or I have horrific mutant spider mites that can breathe underwater.
Obviously, these plants are I'm flower, and are not in a phase where they could be safely sprayed with most products, and at this point, ai don't have faith in spraying them since they are so dense and bushy - too many hiding places. $30+ of Neem Oil was basically a.waste of money and time. I have lost all opportunities of getting rid of them with sprays or drowning as I don't want to further risk messing with their flowers by dunking since they are just starting to throw their first pistils.
I have decided I'm going to purchase predator bugs/mites - something I can release into the room and let hunt the spider mites to extinction and then die off when there are no more.
If anyone has predator mite recommendations, please post them! I am open to ideas! But do so quickly because I need to order this stuff pronto!
Growing parameters are still the same by the way. Good temps, humidity is good though a little low, light is awesome. Been fertilizing with fish poop to keep them fed (these are HUNGRY specimens). Going to start feeding phosphorous and Potassium within the next couple days.
Thanks for looking and special thanks for any predator solution recommendations!
Hey, guys. I've been MIA. I've just been so frustrated with the whole project that I haven't felt liked bothering to post. The spider mites won't go away. I don't recommend purchasing any products from Nature's Good Guys as they are 0/2 as far as their products performing as advertised. Took nearly 200 bucks to figure out their products don't work, and to be honest, my budget can't afford to fool around with solutions that don't work. Silly me.
Parameters for the plants are the same as they have always been. They're just limping along, covered with invincible spider mites that don't die from multiple 1+ hour long dunks, alcohol spraying and predator mites.
I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should even keep growing or if I should just take a break after these plants finish and try to start over once the bugs are all dead from having nothing to eat. This is so discouraging. I'm in a part of the world where spider mites are extremely common and I just can't get rid of them no matter what I've done. Even if I take a break and start again, I have no idea how I can stop them if/when they come back when all the conventional methods have completely failed against them.
I suppose of note, the plants are getting more fragrant and are flowering quickly as advertised, so yay for Homegrown Cannabis Co. And to the plants' credit, they have done extremely well despite a full blown spider mite infestation. I'd imagine lesser plants would have withered and died under these conditions. But they still aren't looking good given how bad things are continuing to be.
Here are some pictures. Enjoy, I guess. Hope y'all are keeping safe out there, and I apologize for the crappy outcome of this grow log. My second run and I'm already face down in the mud haha.
I'm calling it on this run. I'm going to try to cut some clones off of these plants and keep them quarantined for a couple weeks to keep them free of mites (hopefully). Then I'm going to try again. I'll be saving 4 of the original 11 plants since they reacted best to all this stress and still look, well, just okay. So we'll see what happens on another run. When I get back up and running, I will be back. Until then, good luck to everyone. I hope that you don't get a strain of invincible spider mites like I did.
Howdy, y'all. I'm back. With the help of Azamax, I was able to save some flowering branches from those sad, sad plants you saw in the pics from the first run. Since then I have been babying them back to size and setting up mother plants. I don't know which of these phenos is the one I want to keep moving forward, and these plants are ready to flower. I mostly want to narrow it down to one mother plant to clone, so I'll flower them early.
Anyway, today will be the first day of flower. We'll see which of these plants finishes first and with the frostiest nugs. Y'all be safe out there. I'll try to post once a week to catch up.
Howdy! 7 days of flowering in on this run. The last pic of the two crappy yellow plants will be of the mother plants I took which I believe are starving for nutrients since they got repotted from the baby pool a few weeks ago. They have been fed heavily, so now I'm waiting on them to bounce back. They were vibrant and lush before the report, and now they want to pitch a fit.
Anyway, here are photos so far. If anyone has any questions or wants to see any other photos, just hit me up.
I have been way too busy and have failed to upload regular postings on Tuesdays. I told myself I would just get it this Tuesday and be behind one week, and now I'm nearly 2 weeks behind. Anyway, here are some photos of the girls! I think they're doing very well!
As an update though, I am going to be ceasing posts on this thread until anything particularly noteworthy has occurred. From here on I am going to be moving future posts and photos to an ongoing and unspecific thread that you can find here:
Howdy, y'all. Welcome to my thread. If any o' y'all know me, you know I've been having a less than ideal time of growing cannabis. But I do it anyway because I am in love with the process. After posting on ICMAG for almost a year now though, I figure it'd be easier for me and tidier for other...

It will be less structured and more laid back. I haven't really gotten much in the way of actionable feedback, so I'm just going to keep it as a log for mostly my own purposes but where anyone is welcome to ask questions or give advice. Take a look over there if you'd like to follow along.
