Homebred Strawberry Diesel

Hi all.
First of all, the disclaimer.....although growing the kind has been my passion for over 30 years, I have never made any attempt at breeding as I've either been gifted or purchased all the genetics I've ever had the need for. OK, that's the disclaimer..... grower, not breeder.
Today, however, I was admiring how nicely my KK Strawberry Cough cuts were filling in in their third week of flowering when I remembered a container of pollen taken from an exemplary specimen of Rez's SD IBL, and I thought, "what the hell, let's knock em up".
My question, short and sweet, is there any reason to believe/not believe that the resulting seed will not be an equal to what Rez is slinging? (no disrespect with the use of the word "slinging" Rez/Rez fans) Both plants in my experienced opinion are very good representations of their prospective strains.
Also, one other question, as long as I'm chuckin pollen, I've got an Urkle that I'm thinkin of hittin with the same pollen.....good cross too I think.......what you all be thinkin?????

regards,
hr.

Hey Highroller,

To see what your male has to offer you need to grow out the seeds. They're IBL so they should be fairly consistent IMO. Rez has tested plenty of males to find "elite" males for breeding. Unwanted recessive traits can show up in the offspring.

Good Luck with your crosses,:D

I'm thinkin you should do both. And any unwanted or extra seeds you could send off to the bay for freebies. ;)

Could you imagine those as freebies? Wow. Strawberry D and Purple D. Mmmmmmmm.

Right on Johnny. I'm with you on male selection. Out of three that I ended up with, (not the largest of gene pools I know lol) I took the male that had the most robust growth. It was vigorous and had a very lemon/diesel smell to it. Not much to speak of as far as resin production on the leaves, but it seems to me that even the best of the females had the vast majority of trichomes on the calyxes themselves and the very small bud leaves as opposed to the larger and fan leaves like some other strains. The best I could do under the circumstances.
Thanks for the well wishes. Got my fingers crossed.
I hit one of the Urkles up too G.B. I'm actually more excited about that one to be honest with you. This being my first attempt, I've never offered up any seed to anyone for freebies, so any speculation on that is a bit premature. I'm sure they would have to be test grown beforehand.

Not the exact plants pollinated, but grown of the same mother plants therefore genetically identical. Damn near identical appearance too. Got em socked away in another room. Afraid to go in there for a couple days. Don't want any stray seed if you know what I mean. KKSC first then the PU. KKSC seems to take a hella long time to finish when compared to the PU, GDP or Sensi Star that run with them. The PU purples up almost black at finish when grown proper.

I am a also more interested to see how the PU cross turns out and it'll also be nice to see how your version of Strawberry Diesel compares to Rez's version.:chin:

Well Johnny, if it looks anything like your Straw D. porn I'll be a happy camper. :yummy:

Thanks :D The Strawberry Diesel is some of my favorite smoke so far. I think you'll definitely find more than enough keepers out of your cross.

ive heard that diesel is very hard to breed with and is not for the novice. Due to getting unwanted recessive traits in the cross from the sour d male, I read it here on ic mag but cant find where.

Go for it!
I think your on the right track and I'm doing the same with sharkshock pollen and SD IBL-I picked my male using the hollow stem method-LOL-aren't they all hollow?) and going with the most vigorous/stanky and above all fastest male from the pack

Yeah well, Darth, the deed is done so......might as well see what comes of it. After a day of thought on the matter however, I'm thinkin I'm gonna sprout some of these White Mustang seed (chem dog bx4) and hope for an exemplary male for breeding purposes. After growing SD IBL out for several generations, and don't get me wrong the weed was good overall....good yielder, good high, bag appeal.... it was all there, they were very finicky on the nutes and tended to hermie easily if stressed at all. It is my hope that the Mustang will be a more appropriate candidate for the cross. If not I have a few other strains that I feel will be likely candidates, especially for the Urk. Really want to cross that out.

Hey Burt, keep in touch and let me know how grows yer deal too.
Here's some of the female SD IBL from the same run. Stil young, but enough to give you an idea.

love to try the strawberry what company?

Was gifted to me from a great guy in Norcal. Cut only. Kyle Kushman. I hear tho that there are companies that do deal with SC although I have no knowledge with regards to the co. or the quality. Mebbe someone else could help you there. Sorry.

hey there high roller, nice sour d's

I recently made some seeds using sd ibl pollen. Knocked up all 7 of my keeper mom's, and now I have a bunch I'm waiting to grow. I hear you about the SD being a little finicky...but the bud is looking to be worth it. I'm about a month away from my first sd ibl crop w/o seeds that is, they look just like the ones in your pic. Don't expect any uniform plants from the cross and you shouldn't be dissappointed. In my experience homebred seeds are good for homegrowers, maybe not breeders but if you don't mind spending the time and space to find keepers making seeds can be a lot of fun.

Great thread highroller!
I'm sure your gonna find some really nice hybrids in those beans. The berry pheno of Rez's StrawD is supposed to be better tasting than the KKSC mamma. My 50/50 pheno is damn nice grass!

Thumbs up for making your own!
