anyone ever used this thing with a 6" vortex??? my worry is that there won't be enough intake, because that fan is powerful so there needs to be enough intake to bring in air as fast as it's exhausing it...any thoughts please..thanks guys!! :joint:

The 3 intakes at the bottom of the tent are sufficient for the 6" vortex

If left like this light will get through and cause problems

but if you do this it will block 99.99% of light

i got a million questions hope your ready ;) ... is there anything better about say teh homebox XL, than the hydrohut brand, they are the same size and the descriptions look the same...reason i ask is because i can get the "hydrohut" locally, and the homebox XL i would have to have shipped, what is the advantages to either if any?

the only thing I don't like about the hydrohut is that you cant tuck in the flaps because there smaller and thus you will get some very bad light leek's.

I highly recommend you skip the HomeBox and go with the HydroHut. I've owned both and there are quite noticable quality differences although they look more or less identical on paper.

The main reason I got the HomeBox XL was due to the slightly larger size than the HydroHut Mini. And having 6" flanges was another small decision, but it turns out they're not 6" or 4" or any standard size. They're slightly smaller than 6", making it nearly impossible to fit any "solid" 6" equipment. Only a flexible 6" dryer hose will barely squeeze through.

actually the homebox has a hole thats a little bigger than 6", the elastic is what makes it smaller but that stuff can be cut off with no problem.

If the flaps cant be tucked in a fairly good amount of light will get in.

This is a pic of a hydrohut from another member, notice how he cant tuck in the flaps and has just taped them down (which will still let in light)

i ran a chain across the internal span, to the support frames, instead of the coathanger wires that support the roof.

and i arranged the movers kinda upsidedown from what Boxy Brownz got goin on there....

but i didnt like hangin the light from the "stock" support wires. they "bowed" too much for my liking.
id recommend supporting to the outer framework instead, if u feel youve got the same worry...

(but make SURE u can tie good knots if u arrange it upside down like i did...)

heres a pic

pic doesnt do it justice, but the chain is very taut and barely puts any weight on the coat hanger support wires.

allllright homebox it is...after he's saying it's a piece of shit just got me wondering...but it would be pointless for me to tear down my light leaking cab right now to put up a tent that leaks light...

just add a lil velcro.

if the light only leaks at the flaps, EASY FIX.

i had mine burning in pitch black room and only light leaking was from my exhaust fan ducting. (extra velcro applied throught all openings/flaps/zipper covers ahead of time. $3 roll at drug store) i put black panty hose over each end of the inline exhaust fan (that sits on top, outside the tent) and light leak then was barely noticable in a pitch black room..
(i turned the premade tent exhaust ports inside out so they are on the TOP of the tent exhausting the hot air up there.)

then, i darkened the INSIDE of the tent (basically got zipped in it) and turned every light on in the room...
panty hose seems to be working. 90 degree bend from light to roof and another 90 degree bend from roof to exhaust port. no light getting in thru panty hose.......
its that thick style panty hose chicks wear when cold or for catholic school.
none of that sexy fishnet crap here. air flow isnt bothered apparently and u got a lil dust filter.

idk....its working for me.

they are the same, the only difference is the hydrohut has metal corners and the homebox uses molded nylon which IMO is all you really need, and besides just because its nylon (plastic) doesn't mean that its weak but I guess those who do think that its is are not exactly structural engineers.
