plants are doing well and fattening up

the top of the big hazey one has stretched out above my light -- I am just going to let the top sit above the light as I would be too far away from the wee ones if I had to raise it to cover the hazey one -- we'll see

the very vigorous black jack (f) developed some bad wind burn after I had put in a new fan and had to leave the grow area for four days -- I think it's salvageable but will probably affect yeild (at least on that one) -- the others are still looking ok

got some mind-blowing fruit scents from the frost developing on some of the plants -- I hope this carries over after cure -- will post some more pics this weekend

small update -- hope to have some pics updated tonight, lol

down to seven plants -- had to chop the branchy wind-burnt jack black as it just didn't look like it was coming back -- made a tiny bit of blender hash with it -- nothing to write home about -- this plant was burnt

of the two sour nl x haze left I have two interesting phenos. one is the tallest plant I have and is a very lanky, hazy sativa. Not much smell but looks like could be a decent producer at 12-14 weeks, buds are very haze style -- long and wispy. the other pheno is more of a ind dom/hybrid pheno. This one looks like the biggest yeilder of the group and has some very dense, very hairy hybrid style buds developing. The trichs are starting to ooze out of this one, looks very frosty and smells of over-ripe fruits.

The lone masterkush also looks to be a big yeilder with very sticky resin-coated buds.

The two smaller sour nlx and small black jack (black pheno) are frosting up nicely and look like they'll be done in about two weeks. I am starting flushing on these now -- heavy fruity sour-y stanky aroma from these (sournlx) [the small black jack has a very strong menthol fruit odor], although hard to tell so far on yeild -- definitely lighter thant the others. I have one bigger black jack left that looks more like a jack pheno and should take a few more weeks than the others -- yeild looks better too

will post back later with some pics :bat:

hello, nice grow, nice plants-

how big of an area is that 600 watt covering?

how close have you had the 600 watt to the plant's canopy?

thanks

the surface area of the homebox xl is 4x4, however, I have the plants in about a 3.5 x 3 rectangular area and the light is covering that area fairly well -- I believe the watts/sq ft is a little low with this set up, but I'll probably be doing less plants in future runs (the next run will be just one grapefruit plant)

the light is aircooled with a glass enclosure and doesn't give off much heat, right now the light is anywhere from 13" away from the middle of the canopy and maybe 5" from the periphery tops, I hope to move to a more uniform 5" to 7" away from the center tops when I chop the smaller sournlx plants, as I'm running different phenos/strains now it's hard to get everything even without adding platforms (lazy)

excuse me for this . . .

GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKER PIECE OF SHIT CRAP-ASS CUNT SHIT FUCK DUMB MOTHER FUCKING ASSHOLE!

THIS PLANT HERE . . .

YES, THIS PLANT . . .

WENT FUCKING HERMIE ON ME -- yes this one was the indica leaning sournl x haze -- thought I noticed an errant banana the other day then thought -- naahh, well, today I had a little extra time so I thought I'd give her a once over -- clusters of nanners in most of the buds, seed pods with little whtie fucking seeds throughout many of the buds. all this while I thought this one was my big yielder and ace in the hole -- well, it turned shit and this has fucked up my whole mood as I was so pleased with how things are going

as such, i was faced with a dilemma -- (1) cut all the way down; (2) just pick the banana buds; (3) let her finish and hope for the best (probably had 7-10 days left). Well, there were way too many bananas hidden deep in the buds for me to fuck with -- so 2 is out. Option 3 would be attractive but I don't want to have to do a full clean out of the space for pollen and I don't want to get seeds in my longer haze pheno which has at least 2-4 weeks left -- not to mention the new grapefruit that will be going in that room in a few weeks. So that left option 1, I justified it to myself that any further growth is just going to be focused on hardening out the crap hermie seeds in the pods and I could perhaps have a real mess on my hands. Plus, the plant looked like it could yeild some final product, despite the fact that it has only been flushed once.

so i cut that mother down and hung her up to dry -- we'll see how it turns out

really puts a damper on things -- that one was going to be about 1/4 of the total yield and it looks mostly seeded :badday:

well, here's some more photos from today -- apologies for the crap hps glare

:pointlaug

this is the top of the big haze girl -- looks a little odd from this angle, tried a sample of this one the other day -- had the uppiest clearest head high I've ever had, almost pharmaceutical type of buzz -- the curled down leaves have been like this for weeks, don't think it's a serious problem just a genetic trait

a smaller sournlx

runt black jack top

almost purple-y sournlx

another random macro showing trics

Damn! sorry to hear that bro...thats fucked up....but hey, it happens to the best of us....on a good note, those macro's look great. you should get some great smoke. and dont worry, your hermie will smoke good too....look on the bright side, some poor souls dont even have any smoke. and your hermie will probobly be better then most commercial pot anyway...even with it being cut early...well peace man, keep me updated....

Hey I'm planning on doing this same setup next go-round. Can you get some shots of the setup, light hanging ventilation etc? Sounds like you're doing exactly what I have in mind.

The girls are beautiful.

hey hey hey, first off....i think that those leaf tips dangling like that is most def not a genetic trait. Im pretty sure it is a micronutrient deficiency, more specifically chlorine. now im not 100 percent, so if i were you i would research it. def not a geneteic trait however. second....nice ladies man, sorry to hear bout the herm. i myself have a homebox xl with a 400w mh/hps. got some lavender and citralah running right now at 3 weeks flower. Homeboxes are very nice, best unit ive used. I would def go for the xl, just the extra space is better for the leaf canopy.

If you have any specific questions let me know, I have started a grapefruit clone run and will update that thread with some pics on my set up (will link from here once it's up).

To everyone else: sorry for the lack of updates. I let my mother borrow my camera and haven't had it for a few weeks. :fsu:

Update: by now all plants have come down. There was roughly four phases, the herm got cut at about 50-odd days, the smaller ind dom plants were cut around 60 days, the bigger black jack was cut at about 70 days and the big hazey one was cut at 12 weeks :yoinks: .

All were hung dry and are now in various stages of cure. From roughly 3 ounces of frosty trim (I tossed leafy trim) I was able to get a pan of brownies (recipe in cooking forum) from one ounce and about 3 grams of good iso from the other two. In addition to the trim bonus I pulled roughly 5-6 ounces from 7 plants of dried buds. I did weigh most of the product but do not have a definitive # on weight as I weighed them at different times and have heavily sampled some by now. Overall, this was a positive first experience with the grow -- I think with some better genetics and further work on keeping a compact garden will improve my yeild per plant on the next run, which has already started (1 fem grapefruit as a clone mom).

I have tried all of the strains and think I may have been a bit heavy with the Sweet additive as most have a strong flavor reminiscent of Sweet -- not annoying but present. So far, the early cut herm has probably the strongest kick and even has a cheesy flavor to it. The late haze though probably has the best high as it's really balanced and has a nice energetic vibe to it.

I plan to do a full smoke report with pics of the curing buds once I get my camera back :pointlaug . I'll link to that from here once I get it put up.

Thanks for watching.

I had the sour nlx, which is apparently not the same as regular nlx. I'll do a better smoke report later but I'll tell you a little now. I had 2 sour nlx plants, very similar phenos. Both grew only to about 18" or less and yielded about 1.5 oz each, which was actually really good for their height. Both finished in about 8-9 weeks. Neither has what I would call a "sour" tone or a lemon flavor -- instead they're both fairly florally-fruity with a nice almost lavender finish -- maybe a verrry subtle tartness, but nothing like sour diesel. Potency is still being evaluated as they cure, which has been about a month so far. Overall I would say average to above average potency/high -- maybe a 7/10. However, they are really enjoyable smokes -- not killers but nice and pleasant. This plant reminds me of "grey berry" from the grey area coffeeshop.
