Well, the old gent with diabetes threatened to go down to Dalat and pick up a half kilo of cannabis so I could make him some HAO repeatedly for about a week. Instead, what he did with a portion of the $ we gave him to complete this journey was to go out drinking and carousing until his health failed him completely. Late one evening he went into a coughing fit which produced blood, so his wife got him in a taxi and got him to the hospital in Hue. They told him his liver was completely shot, his diabetes was worse, and he had a bronchial infection. He's been in there now for about a week using up the final portion of the $ we gave him for the cannabis run. I might be a little more understanding, but this is his 3rd or 4th trip to the hospital for the same reason. I give up for now.
I sure have learned a lot though, reading this thread backwards and forwards. Cheers!

I don't wonder how he came to be in his health condition in the first place. Only part of today's health crisis can be attributed to ignorance... the rest is just willful destruction.
Kudos for trying to help... hopefully you'll not outsource your sourcing in the future... at least not with your own funds.

Unfortunately, some of the people who we've provided help, were simply working the system for free drugs and I know of one patient, who was selling his free cannabis to pay his rent, until his provider got wise.

I am about to make a batch of HOA. I have the oils you recommend, and I have a mango haze plant that has been hanging to dry for 4 months (never got around to doing anything with it). My understanding is that a completely dried plant is already decarboxylated just by being dry, and I am wondering if I can just do a QWISO extraction of it, mix it with coconut oil + the essential oils, and be done with it.
Do I have to further decarboxylate it even thought it is completely dry?

A completely dry plant might or might not be decarboxylated. I would decarboxylate it anyway and use bubble generation as my gauge.

this is really disappointing to read, but to be expected i guess. you need to make sure you vet people from now on. it's so sad to see potentially life bettering meds be wasted by greed. live and learn eh.

oh man. talk about a bummer. how come you gave him the cash to get the buds if he's done this before? he seems like quite a character. let us hope that traditional medicine can help him. if he gets out and you decide to try again, you better go with him to score, lol.

Got a question you might know the answer to offhand.
Does oil from a high CBD, almost no THC, strain need to be heat activated the same way that regular HAO does?
In other words... if I were to mix a 20% CBD strain with a 20% THC strain, would I have to mix both oils before heat treating (would it be best) or would it be fine to add the CBD oil with the ethanol boiled off... after heating the THC oil?
I imagine it would be simple enough to make batches with the right ratios. Being able to do a quick wash of CBDs and add a few drops to a test amount would be much quicker when finding that initial ratio.

Form provides function. Both THC and CBD are in their carboxylic acid forms, which ostensibly would not fit in the CB-1 or CB-2 receptor sites without decarboxylation.
That is a damn good question though, because I have been noting the results folks are obtaining with juicing, which clearly has minimal decarboxylation at best!
The answer may lie in the point that there are other types of endocannabinoid receptor sites scattered throughout our bodies, discovered as research grows deeper. I don't think the deeper answer to your question has yet been determined.
I'll start a thread on the Dr Jay Medical forum and see what the IC brain trust has to offer!

I was wondering if anybody on here has experimented with using different forms of extracts in the recipe other than just BHO. I am having shoulder surgery very soon and won't be able to work for at least 3 months while I'm healing. Needless to say money will be an issue. I know that using BHO would be ideal but it is very cost prohibitive. I was wondering if anybody has used other forms such as keif or bubble hash in the recipe and gotten similar results as BHO. If they have then are you using it gram for gram like the BHO or are you having to bump up the measurements to get the same desired effects? Thanks for any input and feedback. 
*EDIT* Kept reading another couple of pages and saw others similar questions and experiences. I still wouldn't mind hearing others experiences as well though if they have something else to contribute. Thanks.

We've made it with QWET and oil extracted from bubble with Ethanol.
Yea I use ethanol extract and it works just dandy. If you got bubble or kief should be easy as pie to wash it with some everclear...nylon stocking and coffee filters do a fair job filtering, but require some patience. Shouldn't need a huge volume though if you already have the resins extracted as far as hash/kief. It only takes a pint or two to wash an ounce of scissor/glove hash.
BUT for that matter you can make a REALLY cheap BHO tube with a small steel pipe and only need a couple cans of butane, may even be cheaper than getting a 5th of the juice.
