Hollywood Gives Marijuana an "R" Rating

A new film with Meryl Streep and Steve Martin has been given an "R" rating (mature audiences), solely because of a scene where both the actors smoke marijuana.

The scene in the movie, "It's Complicated", earned an "R" rating not because of the marijuana smoking but because the actors seemed to have so much fun smoking it, without negative consequences.

According to the policy of the M.P.A.A., which rates movies based on adult content, there must be negative consequences for those characters who do drugs in movies for them to keep a PG rating. The idea being that movies must contain anti-drug propaganda as well as depictions of the drugs if they are to be shown to children.

What do you think about that policy?

It 's funny how most people let things like this go when it has to do with drugs, but I also thought that movie had a bit of old people sex, maybe not R but not PG either

Now if they could work a scene of them getting their heads blow off right after, with lots of tight shows of blood and body parts laying around.... well then we could go with a PG rating.

Surely Im not the only one who remembers the bedroom pot smoking scene in the movie "Poltergeist" and the backlash it caused.

But pretty much every movie ever made has people of everyday life who take Big Pharma meds and every one of those meds has negative consequences so why isn't EVERY movie an "R" rating.

Oh, if it's "out of sight, out of mind". lol

I dispise the MPAA more then any other organization out there. Complete hypocrits.

There was an indy movie a few years back on the MPAA (I think I saw it on HBO) and it's just crazy how crazy they are. Complete Masonic Temple like shit.

same with video games peeps...very sad they feel the need to fill in the blanks with all negative reactions....well it's illegal it must be bad...

fallout 3 wasnt allowed for sale in australia because of the pills and various "drugs" you can take in the game to increase your characteristics. even though they were named much differently than real life drugs.

soooOoOo anal about drugs, these people are.

it's not Hollywood it's the US Govt via the MPAA.

it's ok to show grizzly violence, murder, war etc,

but throw in a pair of breasteses or weed smoking without negative consequences, and you get an R rating.

So, if the characters had their MMJ cards, would that be good enough to avoid an "R" rating?

Eventually someone will write a screenplay about MMJ patients. So I guess we'll know soon enough.

I think that was okay, because the Craig T Nelson character was reading a "Ronald Reagan" book as he was rolling the joints.

Did it really cause a backlash? I don't remember because there was no internet back then to record the outrage.

The Chairman and CEO of the MPAA is a freemason and

Members of the MPAA's Classification and Rating Administration, which the MPAA claims consists of a broad, demographically representive panel of parents, view the movie, discuss it, and vote on the film's rating. In fact, many of the "children" of the "parent" members are adults. Further information about members is difficult to obtain, as they operate in secret.

Population Control plain and simple, if you want a head change you are able to use alcohol and tobacco, the two most dangerous drugs. I would much rather have my children experiment with cannabis than either of the two. Just goes to show ya they control everything you hear or see as far as the media is concerned. If you believe in the system you will be an easy target. How come there is no R rating if the tobacco smoking star in the movie doesn't die from cancer within the allotted time making commercial time available to further brain wash the masses. If only instead of watching STD, Tampon, condom, prescription drug and Sexual lubricant commercials they played some Marley and showed people puffin with no fallout the world would be a better place.
