hollow stems, thats a sativa trait. if u grow a sativa and a indica, the sativa will ( 90%) of the time have hollow stems. and the indica will not.

I've noticed plants from seed are more likely to have hollow stems than their clone counterparts, even the same strain. Growing method plays a roll as well. DJ shorts claims are through observations of his own strains, and IMO are good selection criteria for his family of strains but not neccesarily other strains.

That pipe is cool.

A little info on the strain might help out with an answer. I had an AK47 fruit pheno and crossed it with a California Orange/Hash plant. Then the seeds from the cross were sprouted and two plants that most resembled the AK47 were selected (a male and a female) and then crossed, so that a brother and sister now made seeds. These seeds were the ones with the hollow stems and stock. The AK47 is an elite clone from around my town, and the CO/HP was from an unknown source.

I know this is a rather old post, but just thought this genetic information should be stated. Both the Cherry Ak47 and Cali-O that I've had since I was just a teen helping on the farm exhibit this hollow stem trait. They've been a part of the family ever since. I've also seen it in certain "hashplant" varieties as well.

So it's most likely genetic in your cross.

I believe DJ Short mentioned a long time ago how hollow stems and potency seem to be linked in certain lines.
