Hindu Kush x Skunk #1

Any tips on this strain?

I'm a newby grower and picked it because it was fast flowering, and mostly indica (87.5%) and I'm going for a limited space closet grow before the summer heat kicks in from July, probably just a quick 2 to 4 week veg then around 6 weeks flower.

I'm growing in soil, under a 250W with some training and a scrog, and I have to stealth it. I'm hoping my 1.5 - 2 sq ft carbon scrubber will hold off the odors of a couple of those plus the grapefruit. Any tips on growing the HKxS1, regarding stretching, methods, strength of the odor, or even a smoke report greatly appreciated as I've ever seen it before, yet alone grown it. Mostly I've grown bagseeds, lol.

Wow, just to make things a little more challenging the web site lists its flowering period at 9 weeks, while the seed packet lists it at only 6. So it may not be the fast yielder I had hoped.

Also, the dude at the shop where I bought the seeds also had my other strain, femaleseeds' Grapefruit, listed as 65% indica and me, being a noob, didn't know otherwise, lol, so while looking for fast yielding indica dominant strains suitable for my situation I've picked up a 9 week flowering indica and an 8 week flowering sativa to overgrow my tiny little 45x55cm growcab. I also seeded an extra two Hindu-Kush skunk seeds last night, so I think some of these are definitely getting mothered, or sent out bush guerilla style. But so long as I end up with some decent smoke I'll still be happy as Larry, given the dry spell I've been going through the last 2 or 3 years

Golden skush is the same thing and alos pot of gold from flying dutchmen. There is info on both of those strains here at IC. My experience was a very stinky plant with a nice mellow buzz.

Damn, both Gypsy Nirvana and the Flying Dutchman have them listed as around 9 weeks flowering, meaning I'll be still growing them come July. Anyway, I'm still going to have a lot of fun, and it's better to find out now than ie. 6 weeks into veg, lol. Hopefully the seedsman offers to send me some freebies for spotting the printing error. Next time I think I'll try reading a bit more extensively and getting something more suitable for my cab, but I guess I'll be flowering after only 2-4 weeks of vegging.

I'm limited to about 80cm from floor to glass shield and was planning on doing a scrog and some training prior to that. I am also thinking, with the grapefruit being an sativa, of putting it under the 250W HPS a week earlier than the Hindu-Kush Skunk, after 2 or 3 weeks vegging under flouros, and then harvesting it a couple of weeks earlier too, as its listed as 8 weeks flowering.

Question is, do these strains respond reasonably well to induced flowering after just 2 to 3 weeks vegging? I read earlier some strains don't like it as much as others, and can turn hermie. Also, with a 55cm x 45cm space, would 4 plants be overkill, even if I flowered them a tad early as planned?

Actually I think I'll limit that veg time to 10 and 15 days if possible.

So I'll keep the hindu kush under flouros for about 5 days longer than the grapefruit, hopefully have them just under the screen when I switch. As the hindu kush aren&t feminized this should help me sex the 4 of them before they become too entwined in the scrog, and I can remove any males. I might try sexing a branch on them as early as possible too. Assuming 2 of the 4 are ladies, this will leave me with four plants in about 3 square foot, a little cramped, but should work, especially if I give them 50 cm headroom to work with. If all four are males, I can go nuts with the grapefruit, and if they are all females, I'll just guerilla grow two, or perhaps make a PC case into a mother box with the flouros.

Howsy Jerry Maine, i have a bit of experience with both strains and yes the HK X Skunk is mor like a 9 weeker that 6 however it has very little stretch, as a matter of fact your gonna have more trouble with the grapefriut the ths HK x Skunk, your gonna put grapefriut in a computer cab? Dude that stuff triples in size easy. As far as tips for growing the Skunk X KUSH it is extremely vigorous woth very large leaves, easy to grow does'nt stretch hardly at all and yes 6 weeks is a bunch of doo doo. However it can be topped and trained and flowered to produce a very nice yield of beatifully smelling buds as well as very sticky, Ive been growin the Hindu x Skunk for awhile now and it is well worth growing if you have the time, lemme show ya some topped and trained Skush:

Thats 2 plants in about a 2 x 3 foot closet, yielded 13 ounces, like i sais allmost no stretch and big heavy buds with a wonderfull bouquet.

Skush bud:

You dont wanna see the pics of my Grapefriut, all i can say is i gotta see that, in a computer cab? Good Luck you might wanna save the GF for a rainy day, or way bigger cab! Its up to you.

peace and love

Cheers guys,

Seems like I might end up outdoor growing the 2 grapefruit then, and just go with the HK skunk ladies for the 250 cab. However, I might attempt to tame one of the grapefruit beasts first, put one under 12/12 while it's still a baby, at about 6"-8", and see if I can keep it to 2 foot with heavy training and the scrog. If I can't, or if it's crowding out the skunk, I'll just move it to the balcony or go guerilla, depending on how close it is to harvest. I've been reading up on the 12/12 from seed debate but I have no idea if grapefruit is a viable for trying that, so I'll veg for a week or so first.

Good news about the HKS1 showing its sex early though, I'm weighing up whether to top it or just train it. Either way it's getting scrogged, but if it hardly stretches it should be an ideal strain for my micro box. Your 2 look great Bonzo, I'd love to pull out some buds like those.

Yeah, the PC box would just be for mums, not the actual grow, and the mums would be given just enough food and light to stay healthy. But I don't see it happenning this time round. And I don't know if Grapefruit would be viable in there anyhow, but I'd love to have a mum plant of each to clone from, and even breed a cross. If I could get a grapefruit cross to stay short like the HK skunk I'd have created a monster, lol.
