Went to the HTCC in Denver this past year, didn't enjoy it all that much and really just felt kinda out of place...not sure how to explain what I mean exactly. It wasn't all bad and I don't want to sound like a downer but it was super crowded as you would imagine and you were fighting huge crowds to check out any of the cool booths unless you got there really early. They definitely didn't try to hide the fact that it's a huge money grab but that much is to be expected, it is High Times after all.
Mostly what bothered me and and really took me by surprise was how little knowledge most of the folks representing the seed companies had (or at least displayed) compared to even most of the regular posters here on icmag and elsewhere. Talked to the boys at Mosca Negra about the C99 BX1 I had going at the time and asked some questions about phenotypes and they looked at me with blank stares and acted like they had no clue what I was talking about. They told me they were the folks who were doing the selection and producing the seeds so I don't get how they could not have at least one thing to say about the strain that arguably put them on the map, but I digress...
I did meet BOG, that was cool aside from the 20 minute tangent on alien abductions, wish I would have managed to get that high while I was there. Speaking of BOG, his pot was the only thing I smoked there that I actually jumped at the chance to take home, the rest was super disappointing to this blue ridge mtn boy. I guess I didn't get a real representation of CO herb because I can't believe that was the best of the best.
They did have a really nice Oskar Blues throwback IPA in cans though, so I had that going for me.
