Here is some of the Highland Columbian I grew last year. It did not finish all the way, so we are growing it in a greenhouse this year. Very exited to see and try the finished product...Columbian landrace is still one of my favorites. This is the Purple Corinto...Peace

nice thread. subscribed and looking forward to the smoke report.

i also from experience believe in the importance of extensive cure for many landraces. i'm interested in your feedback on what attributes improve and how re the cure time. obviously terpenes evolve. i've noticed significant increase in potency and improved high effects as well in some (not all ) landrace strains.

The curing process has a very fine line. They are all so different. There have been some that I put away and come back to them 4 months later and they do not smell or taste same.
This is still an ongoing study for me... Peace

Chomba64 - Really gorgeous bud you are growing. The closest thing I have is a Purple Haze x Meao Thai male from from ACE Seeds.

I think it has some Columbian Purple in it. I've crossed it with SAGE, a Purple Zacatecas x Indica mix. I'm going to start a grow with those seeds soon. I expect lots of purple. If I get a thin leaf Columbian looking phenotype, I'll show it off here.

I have no doubt that I'd rather have the pure old school Columbian, but so far, this is the best I can do.

Cheers,

ThaiBliss

Purple Zacatecas is a very special Mexican. We made some columbian crosses and will grow them out to see what we can find.

You have the original Purple Zacatecas? My understanding was that this may be extinct or at least extremely rare. I hope you have lots of seeds. Can you post pictures?

Perhaps we should take this to the Mexican Landraces thread,
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=218636 , at least until you can post pictures of the PZ x Columbian crosses. I'll be looking forward to both.

I have been looking for something more potent than SAGE, but the quality of the high of SAGE is excellent. It is euphoric and just enough trippy to remind me of some of the best strains I have ever smoked. I was hoping that crossing it to Purple Haze (Columbian) x Thai, I could find a mostly Zacatecas and Purple Haze or Zacatecas and Thai phenotype. If this happens, I could leave the indica genetics behind and have a great almost pure sativa strain.

Please keep us posted.

Regards,

ThaiBliss

We do not have the Purple Zacatecas. We have Big Sur Holy Weed which I believe the Zacatecas is a part. There are some Mexican landrace I will grow next year. Peace

Whoops. Miscommunication, probably due to my fervent hope of finding that strain someday. I have heard that Zacatecas is a part of Big Sur Holy Weed also. I've thought of getting that and crossing to SAGE to try and see if a more pure version pops out. That is probably an even better plan than my Purple Haze Thai cross to SAGE. However, I have what I have to work with.

I once had a Big Sur Holy Weed cut. It had a similar effect as SAGE. The SAGE has a nice euphoric buzz, and about an hour later, it gives me a bit of a trippy feeling. From what I remember, I did not think the BSHW was strong until I realized that my buzz peaked an hour later. All the best strains I have ever smoked always had a significant delayed reaction.

Chomba64 - I look forward to any of your posts any of the varieties you have. So far, it appears you have excellent taste.

All the Best,

ThaiBliss
