hexagons?

ok, so here's the problem, I'm using storage plastic boxes as my grow pots, but due to the large surface area of the top layer of soil, there is a lot of water being evapourated into the grow room. The normal solutions include using deeper rather than wider pots, or to use dehumidifiers. But I want to avoid both. The greatest area with the least surface area would be a hexagon. But That still leaves a flat surface. Ideally I want a 3d hexagon (can't for the life of me remember the correct term). Clearly the pots would need to come in 2 halves, and the top half would need a split in it to allow it to be placed around a main stem, and then top filled after being fitted. This seems such a simple solution that I can't believe there is no such product on the market. So the question is, are they around, and if so, where can I buy them?
