I been growing a lot of strains a longass time..my opinion stands....my growing skills are fine. I been a horticulturist quite a while..even did some schooling on it for a few years 3 actually along with my automotive from a known school for horticulture here in cali..then had my own farm and 4 greenhouses successful too...80 percent or more will show atleast a few nanners in last week or so if you look real hard..yeehaw ..we all got our own opinion ..mine comes from 25 or so years growin

I've let plants go for longer than is needed on many many occasions when dialing a strain in. Just like I've chopped them early to. To say people who don't have hermie don't let there herb go long enough is not a correct statement.

Like I said before I do not get many hermies at all, and I would bet you all the money I earn in a year that I could name five strains off the top of my head that you will never get to hermie without chemicals.

Yeah like I said, either you went too long or you were working with very stress resistant strains. No self respecting breeder is going to want his strain known for resulting in hermies. So he/she is very likely to make the selections he/she makes with an emphasis for being stress resistant. Therefore it should follow that quality, bought genetics would be much less likely to hermie then the seeds of some strain someone decided to try to pollenate.

Also you got to consider we have growers all over the spectrum here. Many are fairly small time growers growing to supply their habits and maybe make an extra few bucks on the side. Then there are professional/Commercial growers, and some stages in between those first two extremes. Many are able to put way more money into equipment and supplies and will do so because there is nothing but the best for their "girls". Yet there are also many who just can't afford all that high end stuff and so they make do with less pimping out of their grows.

What I'm getting at here is the more you do to enhance the grow, especially stuff like using CO2 then the better a plant will be able to go long term without "nanners". So everyone's claims based on their own experiences, even mine, are purely anecdotal. Unfortunately until we see the day that the Feds end the unjustified prohibition against marijuana and some serious research money starts to become available for much needed research of all marijuana's potential benefits as a cash crop, this anecdotal evidence is all we have.

Psycho you post "get yourself some decent genetics". Define decent genetics. Because even if Exodus Cheese never herms it isn't decent genetics next to a herm prone Chem D. It isn't even close when comparing the final bagged buds.

Seriously Exodus Cheese or UK Cheese are the worst tolerance progression strains of all time. They taste great, the buzz is good. Then after just one day the taste is all you have because the buzz-on is gone.

IMHO decent genetics for smoking purposes is #1 Potency, #2 duration #3 taste. Hermie doesn't matter.

I literally spent days looking for light leaks because 3 out of the 5 feminized seed strains I popped grew hermies. I spent an entire hour sitting in my room during dark period, letting my eyes fully adjust to the darkness so I could search for the tiniest of light leaks.
The really disappointing thing is even some of the regular seeds I've ordered now seem to have these hermie traits.
I call it the hermie epidemic...

FYI: I only grow seeds, no clones. I ordered $1500 in (regular) beans from the big names. Ran everything, most everything hermed. Started looking for light leaks, and started wrapping my grow tents in 6mil white/black plastic, super long light tight air intakes and out... changed nutrients, soil, tried LEDs, fluoros, and now back to HPS/MH mix. Almost quit several times in the last 4 years, but by selecting the plants that didn't herm in my grow I have managed to select a seed line that doesn't herm even with the occasional light leak or timer malfunction. Worth noting its a Williams Wonder x Tom Hills Haze, so no OG/Kush/Chem genes. I got the original beans from Tierra Rojo and the cross was originally made here in Denver. It was tough to explain to wife/friends why most my first plants ended up in the fire place, but now I feel like it was well worth it...
