Hey brother Paulo,

The Mikado for me was a plant that has all the associations of being one of the first that I grew well. I can remember back in 96/97 buying a pack and it really turning me onto Canadian genetics. Before this time I had only grown a few dutchy turp type varieties. These included skunk #1, skunk/afghan and power plant.

Having been pleased with my results from those Dutch offerings I wanted to see what else I might be able to get from across the Atlantic. This was back in the day when Seedboutique was called Seedsdirect.. I did a big order and got some Masterkush x Hindukush, Bros Grimm Mix pack and the Mikado. The Mikado sat in my fridge for a while until one summer when I thought I would try them outside. We had a really fantastic summer and the plants turned out really well... I noticed there was a lot more colour in the plants (mostly purples) and the calyx of each individual flower were much bigger than in the skunk varieties. I guess the whole look of the plant was a lot more beautiful to me and so this contributed to my love for it.

There's something about the effect of the Mikado that I loved also. It was really a happy stoned feeling. Not overpowering but very giggly and slightly silly. Even in crosses this effect seems to come out.. I guess I have a bond with Mikado because of my early experience with it..

Here's a couple of pics of a Mikado x NL#5 that I grew some years ago. A friend and I laughed our asses off for a couple of hours after smoking it.. Good times

They´re looking good, that´s for sure. As usual males are the first ones to show sex and we have at least one male by now. I say at least because today the lights are yet off and we might have a new stud by now.

Digging has started and i´m planning a -5 floor for my cellar
