so my soil mix is 70% FFOF and 30% FFLW.. they have been vegging for 3 weeks.. just transplanted from 1 gal to 3 gal pots a week ago.. still vegging.. i've been using bonoro root stim every day i water (every day) and superthrive/sweet once a week.. i stopped using the root stim a couple days ago.. i wanted to start using my nutes.. so i made some water with the FULL DOSE of pure blend pro grow as recomended by my hydro store.. she said you can use grow at full strength per their directions ( they ahve different doses for different size plants, i tried to dose acordingly).. anyways the ec of tha tmixture was like 22 or something.. after i had the sweet/liquid karma in there it was up at around 36 ec!!!! wtf is up with this?? i know i added it in right.. i grow hydro so i mix water all the f'n time.. is this ok? is soil a little different? i only watered like 8 of my plants with that ec but i wanted to ask first.. i also have 4 flowering soil plants right now that i just started on the PBP bloom nute.. that was an ec of 16 after i added the liquid karma and up at 24 after i added the sweet.. BUT i went HALF DOSE on the bloom water as recomended by my hydro store.. sooo.. am i cool?? can i water the plants??
and pbp recomends to water with nutes every watering!!

these are the things i put in my water..
sweet
pbp (grow/bloom whichever)
liquid karma
superthrive-veg only
bonoro root stim.-veg only
what is the frequency of all these products??? i thought soil was supposed to be EASY!!!

Soil is easy, you're just too used to hydro. All that stuff you add to water to replace the soil in hydro, is, well, there in soil. Add a bit of bloom if you must weeks 3-6 of flowering, but try it without all that other stuff. Watch your ph if you get nervous, but try just adding water for a while and dial in as you go.

ok.. i see that.. so, could i try using a very low dose of nutes and water every day with it?? like an 1/8th of the dose??? does it build up in the soil???

what about karma and sweet.. like, if i use one of those products is it basically safe to use the others?? its just so confusing with soil.. i hadn't added anything except for root stim and super thrive and sweet up until today.. sweet went in last week..

thanks for the help!! :)

Try not to make things more difficult than they seem to be. With the fox farm products you can feed with little to no nutrients for up to three weeks I believe.

Wow. Yah man, like GMT stated above. Start simple and build as you go.

check the calibration of your tools also?

Good Luck.

Hi, suprised no one else has called in on this thread yet.
Here are a few pics of mine. I am a little odd in using no nutes at all, but I find they just arent necessary in soil. Although I do allow a little extra leg room for them. The first pic is my furthest along at the mo, 18 litres of tomato grow bag soil, £1.98 worth, and tap water, not even any ph adjustment, yet, I do one shot of ph down around 5th week of flowering. Thats it. Just soil and water. Like I said give it a try, you may like the ease of it.

and a few other pics, just soil and water.

Soil is great.

When I first started growing in soil I did the same thing you are with all the different products. I have mixed and matched everything and the only thing I was doing was spending a lot of money, lol. I now use growbig for vegging and tigerbloom for flowering with a tablespoon of molassis added. The only difference that I see is all the money I am saving.

My experience sounds like yours JJ. You gotta read them! and veg out a fat stalk to suck up more nutes lol!

Those EC levels are way too high if your using foxfarm soil.

You shouldn't have to fertilize that heavily cuz of the nutes in the soil, unless they are all used up and even then you wouldn't want to water with more than 2 EC.

You don't need full dose. You should read Mandalas thread called Fertilizing wisely. It gives good tips for feeding in soil mixes like yours.

My EXP. is also the same as JJs with Soil. I wen't crazy buying shit for my hydro runs. I'm down to the FloraNova 1 part Grow and Bloom, Liquid KoolBloom, and I feed about 33% strength every watering.

Make sure you keep feedings light... 50% the whole time out unless your plants are asking for more.
