help with new box

i am in the process of building a new box out of a dresser. the dresser is 36''tx28''wx14''d. wanting to do a 250w hps but worried that this is to small of a space for it. would a 150w be better, if so is it safe to run a 150w bulb on a 250w ballast. :1help:

150watts should cover that space quite nicely . cant answer you on the safety of running 150 off a 250 ballast,

thank you for answering me. posted before and no one would answer. is the 250 to much i will have it in a cool tube dont know if this would make a difference. scrubbing my box has also got me kind of puzzled, any advice on what size carbon scrubber i should use. thinking of using a 39cfm with a 70cfm fan does this sound right. so close to having this box done so replies would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

yes, the cool tube will make a big difference. the best way to find out if you have adequate cooling is to just light it up, turn on the fan, close the door, and see what temps you are getting after running for an hour or so. cant advise you on the carbon scrubber as i have never had to use one.

for that 160watt bulb you need a 160watt high pressure sodium ballast,
You can get a 150 watt HPS security lightwhich has all the bits, the ballast and the bulb. There are many diy's for that sort of thing around....check the "DIY Link-O-Rama" you should find some there. It would just be a matter of fitting a connector to the ballast(once youve followed the DIY conversion instructions to remove the guts of the security light) for plugging the cool tube into it.
Same for the scrubber, check the link-o-rama.....
Dont worry if sometimes questions dont get answered immediatly...you;ll get the help you need in some form soon enough...just depends if the right person with the answer happens to see the thread or not.....
I think some of the old overgrow threads are in the link-o-rama including a good one on dresser grows by nimby, that could give you some ideas for ur own or a nudge in the right direction.

Harry Gypsna- thanks for the good info and the kindness. i will check out the DIY page, but i'm going to buy my ballast dont trust myself with all the electrical stuff.

Cocktail frank- sorry to be a bother to you just didn't think they made hps ballast 160. never seen one made for growing, only the hortilux bulbs.
