Help with double door fridge idea

Hey all,
Planning on turning this double door fridge I got from work into a mother's den. Start with a batch and pick a couple mothers to top and clone and send the rest to a flower box..
My main question I'm wondering right now is how long this will be suitable for growing mothers.
I figure with topping and cloning I can craft the shape a bit but the fridge is 4 ft wide and 2 ft deep. probably about 5 ft of growing space vertically.

is 2 x 2 suitable for a mother and for how long?
would I see a significant stretch once I decide to flower them? in other words would I need to relocate them for flowering?

thanks for any responses

With a fridge you'll have to control heat.
Keep in mind that these devices are well insulated & designed to stop the movement of heat through the walls. You will need excellent ventilation & circulation in that cab.

I would suggest setting up a laminar flow style of ventilation with exhaust coming from the celing. Lights should be exhausted separately to minimize the amount of heat build up. You may also have to remove the insulation from within the fridge walls.

my buddy made a fridge stealth grow a few years back. like said above, ventilation is key. do your due diligence for setting up passive intakes and negative pressure. he did soil in 3 gallons I believe, and his plants killed it. very stealth in his garage too.

I love when people make fridge boxes :)

A good fan and temp controller, some LEDs, CFLs, or a couple 2' t-5s and you got a sweet little propagation setup.

As for keeping the moms in check, you could also "air layer" all your clones off of them (or her). That way you would be cloning, vegging, and keeping momma all in the same little box at the same time!

With that method you can basically take clones as large as you want, even half the plant at once!.. and really keep a handle on the mom.

When she gets to tall, you can air layer her main branch halfway up and basically cut her in half, making her short again.

While you are waiting for the new mom to root out you can be layering the other branches below for your next run, and then you would only be throwing the stump away after you cut her and next batch off.

Since I started doing it all my cloning equipment just sits on shelves unused. All you need is your veg area to do it, and a large fridge would be awesome. Will still work great if you are keeping her on one side and vegging on the other, they do need a little time and care to get the roots ready before flower.

Is it a freezer on one side and refrigerator on the other?

If you look up "air layering" on here you will find a few good threads, it is a great skill to have and super easy to do and has a great success rate. Check mine out, I had 100% success even on 2.5 ft tall and wide clones with 5/8" thick stalks!
