hello to all!

well , as the title of the thread says , help me please , i have tryed cloning using different techniques(water , perlite , soil ) , but its been 10 days since they are in the medium and no sign of roots so far :( , the only thing that i have left to do is try using rockwool. The problem is that where i live there are no hydro stores and the only rockwool that i can find is the rockwool that is used in constructions , its clean , comes in boxes and it looks like the regular rockwool u guys use.

any advice about this? i have heard that this technique is 100 % good.

since where i live there are no hydro stores, u can guess that there are no root hormones , so what do u think about this rooting solution:

"cut some willow branches (All willow species produce this natural rooting hormone), into 2" or 4" long pieces (enough pieces to fill a bowl).

Put the willow cuttings into a big kettle (or pot) on the stove, fill with water (all cuttings should be are covered by water). Turn on minimum heat setting, cover with a lid, and leave on low (but do not boil) for 2 hours. Then turn off heat and leave kettle covered for 12 hours.

After the mixture has cooled for 12 hours, the water should be a dark brown. Strain out the water, and discard the branches. Pour the mixture into a container with a plastic top with holes pre-made, and just drop your cuttings in. Let the clones sit in the hormone for 12 to 24 hours (thus allowing the cuttings to fully absorb the rooting hormones), then plant into your medium.

going to put the cutting under a 40 w flourescent bulb , 15 cm above the dome and hope for the best :)

ps : a little high right now

ps 2 : will post some pics with my plants later

ps 3 : thanks in advance

ps 4 : i am from romania :)

ps 5 : sorry for my bad english

ps 6 : this is my second grow ( grew last year outdoors but did not bother to take clones )

Hey MoRFy!
I don't know about that solution, but you can find lots of information on this forum about cloning. There are alot of do it yourself (DIY) cloners you can build that might help. Just do a search for DIY cloner or start here at Pontiac's thread http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=40637 for lots of links to help out. I built the bubble cloner from the thread and have had 100% success so far with about 15 clones, and I'm a newbie! Many of them can be made from things you can buy at hardware stores without the need for a hydro store.

And your english is very good!

Welcome to the forum, man!

I'm not sure where you are man but I get clone rooting hormone powder from an every day legit garden superstore place, most plant shops and nurseries etc will have what you need there - surely someone must enjoy gardening wherever you are :)

thank u again for the help , all is set , i will take the clones tomorow morning :)

another question , read in the faq that after 10 days the males can be seen easy , but is it possible in those 10 days for the pollen sacs to open and realease the polen on the females?

In most cases, 10 days isn't enough time to show roots. I have a thread at the top of this page and there are many others. If you're patient, and keep the light, heat and moisture right, you will get roots. Just be patient.

the rockwool is hard to ph balance sometimes i hate that shit...you are pre soaking your rockwool in 5.5 ph water?

brain i preasoaked the rockwool in a 6.0 ph level , i believe that is best for soil mixes.

scorpio , i was talking about the mature plants , not the clones , i am not using them for mother plants since i will be leaving soon , i can`t take care of them.

MoRFy so your clear on why 5.5 is the preferred soak is afterwards the PH of the cubes will be near neutral. Not to be picky but I've confirmed it many times,a 6.0 soak would probably result in a slightly over neutral PH.Probably no biggie but I dont like to lose cuts from my mistakes.

MoRFY------you needn't apologize for your English my Romanian friend. Tragically we have people graduating from high school here in the U.S. that cannot effectively read or write. Immigrate and you might be able to get a job as an English teacher.
