so pretty much just stop using the 8in inline and filter and only use the air conditioner, connecting it to the 8in ducting that's already in place?

In short, no :tiphat:

Depending on the size of the AC, it will never handle the heat load by itself. Most window units are 5-9k BTU's, a Ton of air conditioning is 12k BTU's. So 1 ton of ac is 400cfm of air, chances are you will be moving 1/2 of that.

You need to exhaust hot air(with a quality fan) and inject cool/fresh air(with a quality fan)...if you try to run the AC alone your electric bill will be thru the roof, if you use fans in conjunction with the AC...the fans will exhaust the air you just paid for to cool :)

Go with a standard fan set-up, and check out the ventilation 101 thread...it's a fairly technical subject to discuss in a couple paragraphs.
