That in-line duct fan is junk, get a CanFan or MaxFan and move 5 times more air...your real problem is air change issues.

8" in-line=200cfm
8" MaxFan=530-860cfm 3 speed

Ideally u want to be able to exchange the air in the room 2x per minute (1.5x per minute may be serviceable) .... So an 8' x8' x8' room is 512 cubic feet.
U would want a fan capable of pulling around 1000 cfm to cool that size a room... Or somewhere in that range (I've got a few diff 8" fans rated for 750cfm) something that size may be enough considering ur using led lighting which puts off less heat than hps

Anyway, There is a ventilation 101 thread that's a great read.. It goes into great detail on how to properly set up grow room ventilation.

You're definitely going to need an "8 fan minimum or 2x "6...based on controls used & a multi-speed capability, multiple fans give a great option for 1st & 2nd stage cooling effect based on heat load.

awesome, The thing is I dont have the cash for a new fan, I do however have an extra 6" is it possible to run them inline, as I only have one 8" carbon filter?

Your exchanging the air in the room, and using an A.C.? If that's the case, that's part of the reason your not seeing much cooling going on. Your sucking the cool air out of the room, as fast as the A.C. can pump it out.

You need REAL fans or it will never happen, or lower the heat load significantly(turn off 1 light).

No such thing as GREAT deals in this hobby, unless a buddy has an extra fro free :)

Controlling your environment is the most important aspect of growing, media/nutes/strain/lites are all bullshit if you can't control the temps/air/humidity.

good point. I suppose I will try it with one light tonight and let you know if it changes anything. I can carry over the second half of the cost into next cycle but I have 20.99 APR :(
I suppose its better than losing my grow though.
I also Just moved here and I have no idea of the cost of power and water. Anyone know an easy way for me to find out if I even have enough after bills?

hmm.. yeah i removed the ac this morning. Its cooling my house now which the 6'' is sucking from right in front of the thing. temp is at 80* I do have one access door ( 2 door connecting entryway) open to pull a little extra cool air in from the hallway. When the lights kick on I will adjust it to one light for now.
I found 10x100 ft b/w visqueen for 48% off 81.99 and the 8'' filter for 87.99 at 55% off. So Hopefully;)

FYI, when the ac was on the 8in was on fan speed control ow and the ac was venting exhaust. It was incredibly hot. I figured it was because I didn't have insulated ducting.

You can buy some of the 6" ductwork with insulation on it. Pull the insulation off, and put it on the hot air exhaust. I had a 6" inline fan pulling the hot air exhaust from my A.C. out of the room. Worked great.

that portable ac unit vented good. i know a buddy had to move his out of the room. he cut a hole in his room to blow cold in and the heat stayed in the outside room

so pretty much just stop using the 8in inline and filter and only use the air conditioner, connecting it to the 8in ducting that's already in place?
