hey lola, are you rocking a maple fretboard or rosewood?
fyi in my experience with squiers the fender replacement pickguards arent an exact fit with the way the holes line up... sure you probably know that already though.
have you thought about a tortoise shell, or cool mint green (especially with a rosewood fretboard woudl look sah-weet) color?
i know they are not listed online but i have a feeling if you call musicians friend they'lll have them in stock....

Go with the black, #1 & #3 have no contrast. #1 can't even make out a thing. #3 green on green, no definition. IMHOI like the black one, I am just worried it will be too much black with all black and one green leaf... I can't decide... lol

It is a rosewood fret board.
I did not know that the replacements were like that at all. Thanks for telling me your experiences.
I saw the tortoise shell one at musicians friend, it is pretty but too masculine. I like the mint green one, but I think it was really expensive.... too much for my budget anyways.
I don't know a lot about this guitar, I would like to know everything about it.
It has A maple neck with rosewood inlay on the back. The Squier is in gold lettering, not the black lettering. The serial # is printed on the back of the head and it sez made in Indochina. there is a sticker with CE on the back of the head too.
I tried researching it tonite on the internet, but it is too slow on dialup, and after a couple of hours of fruitless searching I gave up.

IC = Made in Indonesia by Cort (solid agathis from 1998), followed by 2-digit year.
seems that your squier was manufactured in indonesia in 2002 by the Cort Guitars

turn that fucker upside down restring it (or not if you can learn to play that way ala doyle brahmall???) and you'll be abe to access some different tones due to some scientific shit i know nothing about but its there!!!! and theres something inherittly killer ala hendrix with a flipped strat...

Dwezzil Zappa has a strat that Jimi Hendrix trash on stage at a show he played with the mothers ,he stuck a left hand neck on it as a homage to Jimi (a bit of totally useless strat info) mad lookin strat imo

Baloney is nice - but, it's not bacon.
Can never have too much green - but you can have too little.
And the number 3 always reminds me of Sweet tooth #3, so...

I think Abolone will be a cleaner look over the long haul. I think if I saw a lady playing a Fender with a preference for tie-die that I would assume the leaf is a part of her life without having to see it. A black body with an Abolone face is the classiest of the three in my opinion.

Most folks that play a strat copy, call it a strat copy so folks know it is basically a korean copy of a strat. The little dirt bikes you see at PepBoys have identical engines to Honda, however they are honda copies made in China not Japan. Same thing, the only difference is that Fender licensed and authorized competitor companies to produce off brand copies for various reasons.
One reason for doing this was to introduce trainer models for learning guitarists. The Fender Mustang was actually the first of these sorts of off brands...although the original mustangs were really more of an actual Fender brand than the copies of today. Fender did all the tooling for the mustangs production themselves.
Sometime in the 80's fender discontinued the production of the Mustang and started making their learner models overseas in Korea. This was the start of the "Squire" series of guitars. As Fender was the licensee of the deal, Squire produced copies of the Fender original lines. The Korean company also did deals of farm outs to other countries and companies overseas, Cort was simply another smaller guitar maker that got a contract to produce the copy guitars for Fender's Korean company. There is nothing really sought after with Cort guitars as any sort of collectors item, although they have been known to be good playing instruments.
The particular model you have only has any special value because it is left handed.
When talking copies, anniversary models really don't have much special significance because they don't design or do anything but copy what Fender allows them to copy.
I have a buddy that used to come over and listen to me and some guys jam. He one day brought by a guitar that his dad had given him. Said he never really ever learned to even tune it. It was a pristine, never really been played, daphne blue mustang made in '65.
It was a jewel and the guy had no idea what he had. Strings were shit, but I had it plugged in and tuned in about 60 seconds.
Long story short...they guy realized that he wanted to be able to play this guitar his buddies were telling him was a collectors item. He went on to not only learn, but he is one of the best leads in this area today. Still plays that pale blue mustang.
The mustangs were originally made to be trainers/learner models and turned out to be collectors items and played by many a famous musician. The Korean copy's never will attain such status, and Fender makes certain of it.
The biggest difference in these instruments is price.
A left handed bare bones standard strat (a Real strat) is going to run you a minimum of about $800, and the same Squire left handed model, complete with an amp, cord, some picks, a tuner, and a nifty little learners book will run about $250.00 for the package.
I'd be curious where you ever even found a left handed squire that wasn't part of that package deal, as I think that is the only way they sell the LH models. (shrug)

Hoosier: It was the only lefty in the whole store... didn't have much choice in the selection. As I said, having broken my wrist and getting it pinned, I was unsure if I would ever be able to play the guitar again.
I did think about ordering a $1200 Fender. However, I thought it would be the smartest thing to do to get a lefty beginner model.
Now maybe all their Squier Strats sound as good as this one, or maybe I just got lucky. But it sounds so good, I can't tell it from my Righty Fender strat.
I am all about the sound. Picking a guitar up and playing it before you buy is all important in my opinion. I would never buy a guitar sight unseen online. Too many variables to the sound.
Did ya'll even vote? I am going to see, or did ya'll just come in here to poke fun and laugh at my expense?
